The list of students receiving financial aid this year had already come out.
After receiving the list, Sun Ju handed it to Zhou Jinwei.
He didn’t really care about this matter, but the principal felt that since the financial aid was being sponsored by his family, they should let him reviewed it beforehand.
Zhou Jinwei randomly swept a glance over it. However, in the not so long list of names, he didn’t see the name he wanted to see.
The pen in his hand paused for a moment. In the end, he placed it back down on his desk and walked out of the classroom with the list in hand.
Sun Ju was shocked, sticking his head out the classroom window in confusion, not knowing where he was going.
He saw him leave the building and walk into the principal’s office in the other building.
Inside the office, the principal was drinking tea.
Someone knocked on the door outside.
The door was actually open. Anyone outside could freely walk in.
In this school, there were very few who were this well-mannered.
The principal looked up, and after seeing who was standing outside the door, he smiled warmly, “Student Zhou, do you need something?”
Zhou Jinwei walked in and had that list placed on the table, “I wanted to ask, what were the criteria for the application this time?”
Turns out it was asking about this matter. The principal explained to him, “Many students at our school don’t have working adults in their family——either their parents have passed away, thus living with their grandparents, or the adults in their family are disabled.”
When Zhou Jinwei heard, he fell silent for a few seconds.
As a wealthy young master from the capital, it was normal for him to not know about the hardships the people from a small place face. Just as the principal was about to continue, he heard him say, “Then add a few more to the list. I’ll take care of the expenses.”

After a few laps, the PE teacher saw that they were truly exhausted, so he let them freely rest for a while.
Although it was winter, the sun was still quite strong during the day. Zhou Yanli found a shady spot and had Qin Yu go to the store to buy a deck of cards.
They were planning to play some ‘Fight the Landlord[1]‘ to kill time.
Jiang Huihui had a troubled look, “I don’t know how to play.”
Zhou Yanli was drinking water next to her. Hearing her words, he screwed the bottlecap back on and casually had the empty bottle in hand tossed into the trash can in the distance.
A perfect shot.
He said, “It’s fine if you don’t know. I’ll teach you.”
When Zhou Jinwei came over, Jiang Huihui had just thrown out a pair of jokers.
By her side, Zhou Yanli and Qin Yu had lost miserably, their faces covered with sticky notes, like jiangshi[2] from ancient times getting controlled by a talisman.
Zhou Yanli pushed aside a sticky note that was blocking his view and dejectedly flipped over the cards underneath, “Didn’t you say that you didn’t know how to play? Are you cheating? How come it’s always you winning every time?”
Could it be that this thing even has a newbie protection period?
Jiang Huihui pursed her lips and softy smiled, happily turning to the side to get the sticky notes, wanting to stick it on their foreheads.
When turning back around, she just happened to catch sight of the boy standing nearby.
It was quite a familiar face, devoid of expression, quietly watching the three of them secretly play cards during class.
Jiang Huihui’s heart inexplicably tightened, feeling somewhat flustered as she got up.
Zhou Yanli, who was checking whether Jiang Huihui had cheated or not, noticed this sudden movement of hers, thus turned to look too.
Seeing Zhou Jinwei expressionlessly walking over, Jiang Huihui hurriedly turned around to gather up the playing cards by the flowerbed, attempting to destroy the evidence.
When she turned, Zhou Jinwei’s eyes shifted downwards, getting drawn to that dark red smear on the back of her light blue sweatpants.
He very quickly came to realization, his brows slightly furrowing.
Zhou Jinwei took off his jacket and wrapped it around her waist.
Jiang Huihui blanked.
Zhou Jinwei properly tied his jacket, only letting go after making sure that it won’t come undone.
“Didn’t keep track of the days?” He softly asked.
After slowly realizing what he meant, her face instantly turned red, stammering as she said, “I….I forgot.”
“Your school uniform in the changing room?”
Jiang Huihui nodded.
Zhou Jinwei let her go wait in the restroom first.
After going into the restroom, Jiang Huihui checked her pants that had gotten dyed red by the blood, her face full of embarrassment as she smacked her own head in frustration.
Of all people, Zhou Jinwei just had to be the one to see it.
After waiting for a while, a girl came in and began knocking on each stall door, “Jiang Huihui?”
She quickly responded, “I’m here,” and had the door cracked open a little.
Through the crack, she saw Zhan Tong holding her school uniform, along with a pack of menstrual pads wrapped in a black plastic bag.
When she saw, her face was very red, softly asking Zhan Tong, “Who gave it to you?”
“Zhou Jinwei.” She stood outside with a puzzled look, “When did you become this close with Zhou Jinwei? He’s even willing to help you buy something this personal.”
Jiang Huihui changed her clothes inside the stall, taking off her tracksuit and hanging it on the door. Right now, she was already unable to speak.
That scene from earlier kept replaying in her mind, like a jammed projector.
Jiang Huihui didn’t answer. Zhan Tong pondered on her own for a while, suddenly having an epiphany, “Got it. You and Zhou Yanli are distantly related relatives. Meanwhile, Zhou Yanli and Zhou Jinwei are also a bit related, so you and Zhou Jinwei also have some sort of connection because of Zhou Yanli?”
Thinking about it this way……it’s not exactly wrong either.
The only link between her and Zhou Jinwei so far seemingly was indeed with Zhou Yanli acting as the bridge.
After figuring this out, Zhan Tong no longer dwelled on it, “Perfect! Once you and Zhou Jinwei get together, and I get together with Zhou Yanli, rounding it up, we’ll be sisters-in-law.”
Jiang Huihui momentarily fell silent, ’rounding it up’ can even be used like this?
Zhan Tong didn’t stay for too long either. She was the class sports monitor, so she still needed to go report to the PE teacher, and while she was at it, also help Jiang Huihui ask for leave, “I’ll be going now. Are you going to be okay on your own?”
“I’m okay, you don’t need to worry about me.” Her voice came through the door.
Zhan Tong nodded her head and went out.
Outside the restroom, Zhou Jinwei was waiting nearby.
Zhan Tong saw him, still feeling a bit flustered. Even though her heart already belonged to Zhou Yanli, seeing Zhou Jinwei, she still couldn’t help but be captivated by his appearance.
She said, “I gave the thing to Jiang Huihui.”
The other party nodded, “Many thanks.”
Zhan Tong pursed her lips, appearing composed on the surface, but screaming on the inside.
So handsome! Are all those with the Zhou surname this handsome?
After a long while, Jiang Huihui finally came out holding the tracksuit she’d changed out of. She immediately saw Zhou Jinwei who was standing outside.
She’d even deliberately waited a little longer, not expecting that he would still be here.
Thinking for a moment, she forced herself to calm down as she walked over to thank him, “Thank you for today….”
He didn’t say anything, just handing her a takeout cup of brown sugar ginger tea.
Every time her period came, her stomach would always hurt. In addition to the intense workout earlier, the cramps finally began to set in at this time.
Hesitating for a moment, she reached out to take it, a strange feeling suddenly stirring in her chest. But what it was exactly, she was unable to explain.
In the end, she could only squeeze out another thank you.
Qin Yu wondered what the two of them were doing standing there for so long.
He wanted to go over and eavesdrop, but Zhou Yanli hooked him by the neck with one hand, having him forcibly dragged away without any effort, “The couple is trying to bond, what are you butting in for?”
That one short line was more than enough to shock Qin Yu several times over.
WTF? Wasn’t Jiang Huihui dating Zhou Yanli????
OMFG? The one who’s actually a couple with Jiang Huihui was actually Zhou Jinwei?????
[1] Fight the Landlord or Dou Di Zhu is a popular Chinese card game. It’s typically played with three players, where one player is the landlord, the other two the farmers. The goal is to get rid of all the cards in hand by playing card combinations higher than the previous player. The farmers cooperate to prevent the landlord from winning.
[2] Chinese zombie, the name itself literally translates to ‘stiff corpse’.
