Jing Wanβs Big Move (2)

Luo Pei Shanβs look towards Jing Wan changed again, strangely carrying a faint light, and extremely peacefully, or rather, indifferently opened his mouth, βThird girl, do you know what youβre saying?β
Jing Wan pursed her lips, βGrandfather, Iβm very clear of what Iβm saying. Someone like Jin Qinwang, others all avoid like the plague, yet I voluntarily approach, indeed very unwise, even possibly making others feel Iβm stupid. But under the current state of affairs, Jin Qinwang is the best option. If I become his fiancee, the dilemma will be easily solved.β
Jing Wan was very clear. Donβt look at how her grandfather was very impressive right now, he was still within the scope of some peopleβs tolerance, thinking that there was still the possibility of him being used by them. If he were to be unyielding to the end, then no one will tolerate him continuing to sit in his current position. This position of the Head Minister of Appointments was truly too important. No one will be able to tolerate him maintaining himself during this chaos. Moreover, since taking post, this current state of the affairs has been very worrisome, and this position itself was already unstable to begin with. If others all want to have him pulled down, well, third uncle Luo Rong Ping was already restless to begin with, so they would always be able to find an excuse to denounce Luo Pei Shan. Then stirring up some troubles from nothing, Luo Pei Shanβs ultimate end, one can well imagine. Thatβs why, the one in danger wasnβt just Jing Wan alone, but also Luo Pei Shan, and also the entire Luo family.
Jin Qinwang held no power, nor influence, but he was one that no one could afford offending. He may appear to be Noble Consort Suβs foster son, but everyone all knows, he didnβt help either side.
βIndeed, the current situation is solved, but Wan Wan, have you thought of the future? Moreover, Jin Qinwang isnβt one thatβs good to provoke. Taking advantage of him to resolve the dilemma perhaps will bring about an even greater trouble for our Luo family. After all, for others, they might still have misgivings somewhat, but for Jin Qinwang, he didnβt have any misgivings at all. Even if he were to brazenly do something, one would still be helpless towards him.β
βThatβs why, I just seek a title, thatβs all.β Ruan Fang Fei was a pervert, Jing Wan has never thought of competing with her before, and besides, in Jin Qinwangβs heart, there probably still lived a true love. She wasnβt interested in squeezing herself in, and if when time comes, he needs her to move, as long as the Luo family is stabilized, letting her leave, even if in a special manner, letting her live using another personβs identity, was all doable. Just, the position of βdi wifeβ was her bottom line.
As Jing Wan faintly hung her eyes, Luo Pei Shanβs gaze towards her became increasingly strange. To have only a name but no reality? Dear granddaughter, you still have to see whether or not Jin Qinwang will agree. He has schemed this much for that long, and now, youβre voluntarily jumping into his mouth. How could he not swallow you whole? However, he canβt just let that living Enma have it easy like this. Having been nearly angered to death by that living Enma, no matter what, he still needed to get a bit of revenge. βThird girl, you should know, whatβs most important is the future.β
βThe future? Grandfather also believes, no matter which other prince ascends the throne, Jin Qinwang will all undoubtedly be killed?β
βCould it be that third girl has other thoughts?β
βThe times Iβve interact with Jin Qinwang, although can be counted on one hand and moreover, the time also brief, thereβs still one thing that I can be certain of, and that is, heβs not a fool. Would he not know his current circumstances? But seeing him still continuing to do as he pleases, not knowing to restrain himself in the slightest, could it be that he completely doesnβt care about his own life? Thereβs no reason for him to lose his will to live, thus, in that case, he undoubtedly has a way to preserve himself. Iβve never believed that when the time comes for another prince to ascend the throne, it will be the day of his death.β
Luo Pei Shanβs eyes lit up. This granddaughter of his, although didnβt know the actual situation, she was still able to make out the situation accurately. βEven so, Jin Qinwang isnβt one to follow common conventions.β
βThese two things are just for his Majesty. After all, my status isnβt high enough to be a qinwangβs di consort. Only when his Majesty agrees will we be able to discuss other things. And if Jin Qinwang doesnβt agree, I also wonβt insist on it.β
This status of hers was indeed the greatest obstruction, else Jin Qinwang wouldβve just directly requested to marry her long ago. But, for the Emperor, this simply wasnβt a problem. As long as he nods his head, then wanting to raise a personβs status, that was just a simple matter. Dear granddaughter, if this matter succeeds, then you will have solved Jin Qinwangβs greatest headache.
Luo Pei Shan couldnβt help thinking to himself, that living Enma was that insolent, but his greatest headache didnβt need for him to use the most extreme method to resolve, instead being resolved by his future wife. Donβt know what kind of expression he will have.
βThird girl, you have to think carefully, Jin Qinwangβs reputationβ¦β¦..β
βThe rumors are usually all exaggerated. Exactly how much of it is true is still unknown. Besides, itβs not like Iβm seeking anything real, so whether heβs fickle in romance or not, it naturally has nothing to do with me. As for being malicious and ruthless in temper, no matter what, he still wouldnβt go as far as to do something to his own di wife. And as for wife cursing, right now, donβt they all say that I curse husbands? Our cursed eight character, perhaps by encountering the other, will cancel out.β Jing Wan said with a smile.
At this moment, Luo Pei Shan truly realized that Jing Wan really was indifferent towards marriage. This step right now shouldβve gone through careful deliberation. βSince thatβs the case, tomorrow I will have the things presented to his Majesty and feel out his Majestyβs intentions.β

Jing Wan nodded, then thought for a moment, βActually, just asking for an engagement is enough. In any case, this granddaughter will at least need to wait until after one reaches marriageable age before marrying, and thereβs still quite some time until then. Having an engagement as a buffer, grandfather should be able to have a completely firm standing in the Ministry of Appointments, and some things can also be taken care better. When time comes, even if others want to drag you down, it wonβt be that easy. And if by then, Jin Qinwang is still unwilling, he can also just βcurseβ me.β
Luo Pei Shan looked to Jing Wan, not knowing what to say. In the end, for her to do this, it was still for his sake, for the sake of the Luo family. However, perhaps he should have her words relayed to Jin Qinwang, letting him also feel suffocated inside.
But, with things like this, Jin Qinwang can avoid exposing himself at present, and also avoid doing something like forcing the Emperor to abdicate in a coup. One should know, even if one wants to seize the throne, right now truly wasnβt a good time. This was practically unknowingly dissolving one of Qi Yuanβs great disasters. For third girl to be amassing this much good fortune, if the heavens arenβt good to her, then the heavens are truly blind.
Shortly after, Luo Pei Shan also rather curiously asked how Jing Wan thought of all this.
βDonβt know how I thought of it. In the past, in Qiβan Fu, I once made them to play with before, just at the time, it wasnβt this refined, and didnβt think of other applications for them either.β This lie was also βunfamiliar at first, but well accustomed soon enoughβ. In any case, when she was in Qiβan Fu, she indeed played with quite a few little playthings that others all thought were strange, so it wasnβt that strange of a thought. Moreover, at that time, she really did use a normal crossbow to hunt once, so for her to consider improving it seemingly wasnβt that strange either.

Happy Chinese New Year!! Hehehe what a nice gift for us readers and also for LHY, with JW delivering herself at his doorstep. I can already imagine in the future, him telling her ‘wasn’t it you who jumped into it and forced me into this situation? now you can’t go back, it’s time to take responsibility π’ and well i’ll leave what follows to your imagination π ah i wanna read how it goes with the emperor, how he will announce it and JLH’s reaction…
Thanks a lot Jen ππ enjoy the day ^^
Happy Chinese New Year! Thanks for the updates. π
ACK, what was I just saying last chapter? She started thinking about what paths would make her happiest? Well, I feel like I GUESS I was right, but she decided her being happiest = her family being safe and happy. Though that does make sense. That’s exactly what she concluded last life too. The family she loves is her everything.
Still, it’s interesting to see how she has it right in some places and wrong in others. She is right that Jin Qinwang has used his “wife cursing” title to hide away women he doesn’t want to marry. And she also is right that Ruan Fang Fei is a huge pervert.
But I wonder what she would think if she realized she’s jumping into a situation where like 80% of the wife cursing has actually come from Ruan Fang Fei. Yeah, a weirdo pervert, but a crazy malicious one at that. I’m worried that’s where this will go awry. Jin Qinwang JUST commented that next thing he has to deal with is Ruan Fang Fei but he’s having a tough time because there are no openings for him to exploit. WanWan is going to accelerate the timeline of the engagement when he’s not prepared for it and it is going to bend 100% of Ruan Fang Fei’s focus to her.
I always wonder why people stress so much over the plot when nothing stressful has ever happened to the leads.
Nothing stressful… I wonder about that haha. I mean, it sounds like tons of really bad stressful things happened in Jin Qinwang’s original timeline and it culminated in WanWan losing contact with her family and eventually having a miserable death. Although you can totally argue that stuff hasn’t happened to OUR leads within the current scope of this story. XD
That said, I do consider Jing Wan having a carriage drive head on into hers and causing her to fall off a cliff to be stressful (Ruan Fang Fei!). I also consider her having social pressure to play an instrument that made her fingers bleed to be stressful (although it turned out fantastically for her reputation). I also consider Jin Qinwang getting stabbed and falling off a cliff to go look for WanWan to be stressful (even though the injury was intentional). *Stares distantly out the window * …Am I too easily stressed for the characters? ahaha
All I can say is you probably have never read any real angst stories lmaoo there’s a famous genre among chinese webnovels called θζ (angst romance) where you either have to be a sadist or a masochist to enjoy because those novels are a painfest from beginning to end. Everyone is miserable, from the characters to the readers lol but it’s an insanely popular genre among chinese audience, with a lot getting adapted into dramas.
You can say I’ve built an immunity, so this novel is like nothing in comparison. πππ That or you just don’t have enough faith in the characters, or trust the author enough, to have a positive outlook, like when I was reading for first time, I just feel no matter what happens it’ll be fine in the end.
Oh, whoa, I haven’t heard of that genre before. And you are right, haha. In general I usually try to not go for angsty ones because I just feel badly after.
Also, to clarify, I don’t think something unsolvable is going to happen to the leads (the monk promised!). But I do worry things that could be a headache and a half to solve might happen. good luck everyone haha.
Do I think WanWan could end up like any of the women Ruan Fang Fei has previously dealt with? Ah no way! Do I think RFF will still try? I do, actually. The comments on her are so ominous!
Thanks for the chapter! π
Hmmm This would be fun!thanks for the Chapter!waiting for more
Glad she’s helping her grandpa and the big family, also unknowingly halted Jin Qinwang from rushing his plan. And yet, also sad since she just shrugs it and simply said she can be “cursed” in the future if necessary. Some might interpret it as unfeeling, but I see it as her lacking selfish desire for herself (or decided to bury it when she became Jing Wan? If there’s a mention of this in past chapters then I’ve truly forgotten). She’s actually selfless, putting her family (grandparents and immediate family and sis in law) first ah..
I just hope this time it goes as she wishes. I also will find it unbelievable if they will easily deal with the twisted Ruan Fang Fei, thus I’m now making mental preparation so I won’t curse as much when she starts doing something…
Happy Lunar New Year! Prosperous Rat Year to Jen & fellow readers! Have fun with family & friends! Gong xi fa cai!
She didn’t become Jing Wan, she is Jing Wan and has always been Jing Wan. It’s more so her ideology that she doesn’t see romance as being necessary for her happiness, to that which I can relate because I don’t have that much of an interest in romance for myself either. She’s the type of person that is able to find happiness for herself through other ways, and to her, the most important thing is still her family. Besides, she doesn’t have any feelings for LHY at this point anyways so she doesn’t care, she’s just using him as a shield to protect her family.
Un, un, I understood that her previous life is in modern world, and the present her carries the memory of that previous life since she was a baby, it’s just I can’t remember the right term (reborn, transmigrated etc they confuse me). But I forgot many details mentioned about how she was in her previous life, so I was wondering if there’s any previous life’s experience that made the her now put family first and never think of romance, or it’s just really her personality π
Everybody has different definitions for those terms sometimes, so I headache over them a lot lol
There’s really only two important points from her modern life that shaped her personality, one was her degenerate father who was a politician, and another was her paternal grandmother that risked her life to raise her. In a way, because she was super close to her grandma in the modern world, she subconsciously wanted to be good to Luo Old Madam, which is why she has a better relationship with her grandparents than her parents in this current life.
I’ve always wondered, if it was because her parents in the modern world didn’t have a happy marriage that it’s shaped her views towards romance since a young age. I’m not very good with psychology, but the characters in this novel are perfect to psycho-analyze.
Yeah. I initially just wanted to read and be entertained but sometimes I caught myself wondering about these characters, their traumas and motives π
You could be right, that she might have never seen anything in previous life that made her want to experience romance, too. While in her current life, she knows too well it’s too much to ask for romance since you don’t go out and date, your family takes care of your marriage π
Wan Wan doesn’t actually believe that Jin Qinwang is cursed. After all, she had asked him to “curse” SYJ and get SYJ out of the engagement with him.π€
Thus the use of quotation marks, because it’s just calling it being cursed in accordance to how outsiders see it, but Jing Wan and her grandpa knows it means whatever way Jin Qinwang prefers to cancel the engagement.
LHY: plots for 2 lifetimes with multiples complicated schemes while using his full ressources to try to get married to JW.
JW: spend 1 week-end to make some gadgets to βbuyβ her marriage XD
I’m looking forward to LHY’s reaction when he finds out. I feel bad for the eunuch who’s with him though (forgot his name) when his master just does his intense facial expression when thinking of JW lol.
In a way, history (?) repeats itself.
Or rather, Jing Wan’s characterization is done very well by the author.
For Luo family, she is ready to do anything. Last lifetime, she abandoned her surname, this lifetime, she marries a ghost child. I don’t believe in fate or anything, but this novel often mentions her bad luck in marriage quite often and it really shows. Of course, the Luo grandparents and the readers know LHY’s feelings for LJW, but LJW doesn’t.
Well, history only ever repeats because people ultimately end up making the same decisions time and time again. I think because Jing Wan has lived a lifetime in the modern world, a rather sad life really, she’s able to ‘see through the mortal world’ sorta. So romantic love, in her eyes, isn’t that important and not necessary in her life, but the family she loves she values more than her own life. This novel’s first half really is a beautiful story about familial love.
Then I hope the second half is a beautiful story about conjugal bliss π (i know it’s not about that, but the way you said it kinda gave me this ‘bad premonition’ feeling so I needed to counter it somheow π)
Oh I didn’t mean for it to sound that way, you gotta believe in the author more πππ
