Acknowledging Relations, Gambling (2)

Yu Yao perhaps was somewhat spoiled, but she was inherently innocent and cute. In addition, she was perhaps the only one among the masters of the Grand Elder Princess Manor, aside from the two elders, that didn’t have the slightest enmity towards Jing Wan. Jing Wan very much liked her.
Jing Wan saw in the gardens the several wangyes and also a crowd of young handsome scholars.
Seeing them from far away, Jing Wan pulled Yu Yao to a stop, curtsying, and can be considered to have performed her etiquette. Afterwards, she pulled Yu Yao along and left from the other side. She appeared suddenly and left even faster, but many of them all saw her figure.
The so called ‘humans rely on garments, and buddhas rely on gold adornments’, this phrase at certain times still made somewhat sense. More importantly, Jing Wan was able to uphold it. She although wasn’t a stunning beauty that overturned the world, but aside from this, she wasn’t lacking in the slightest. Other than those kinds of men that only looked at face, if one were to place an exceptional beauty that was only an empty flower vase next to Jing Wan, nine out of ten would still choose Jing Wan.
Never mind Kang Qinwang, whose imperial mother had the intention of letting her become his second wangfei, even Gong Qinwang who ‘loved his wife dearly’, and in fact, even Rui Qinwang, and also those younger wangyes, their gazes were all on Jing Wan.
The desire in Kang Qinwang’s gaze couldn’t be more obvious, and because of his imperial mother’s words, he practically had Jing Wan viewed as his already. As for Rui Qinwang, he also couldn’t help but have the intimate scene with Luo Jing Ying in his memories replaced with Jing Wan’s face…………..
The pain in Sun Yi Lin’s heart ached to the extreme. That originally ought to be his wife.
And Li Hong Yuan’s face darkened to the point of nearly dripping ink. Each and every one all daring to have delusions about his wife, really all looking for death!
Originally, after Le Cheng Emperor had him summoned into the palace, he very quickly learned that this marriage was asked for by Jing Wan of her own accord. Even if his old man didn’t say, he still knew what Luo Pei Shan presented up. Gong mama had long passed on the message to him, just he previously didn’t know Jing Wan’s intentions. And when she finally went looking for Luo Pei Shan, Gong mama just happened to miss out. That’s why he wasn’t able to learn of the specifics first thing. Regardless of Jing Wan’s aim, her requesting this marriage was more than enough to make him elated. From learning of this matter to until now, this was actually his first time darkening his expression. If he doesn’t give them a bit of suffering to taste, he really would be unworthy of his living Enma title.
As for the thousand mile eye and five-shot crossbow, in his past life, Li Hong Yuan had already witnessed before. Especially afterwards when he personally took to the battlefields as the Emperor, he experienced first-hand the advantages of the thousand mile eye and the formidable power of the five-shot crossbow. He knew how these two things were made, because after Jing Wan passed away, he attentively studied every single thing Jing Wan ever made. However, in these years after returning back to his youth, he never thought of wanting to have these things made himself. That honor and glory belonged to Jing Wan.
Someone tapped the Grand Elder Princess’s eldest di son, smiling dubiously, “Such a delicate adopted younger sister………….”
“Don’t speak nonsense, careful of getting skinned alive by my mother.” This eldest master of the Grand Elder Princess Manor smiled rather helplessly. His wife had nagged to him before, saying how his mother prepared for this adopted younger sister many many good things as gifts for the ceremony, really was treating her as an actual daughter.
“Why did the Grand Elder Princess suddenly want to take her as an adopted daughter, is there a reason for this?”
“How would I know, probably because my mother really likes her.” In reality, this Lord Jiang probably knew the reason. On the day Luo third miss came to the Grand Elder Princess Manor, someone came from the palace. This matter most likely was that Emperor maternal uncle’s idea. As long as it was related to the Emperor, then everything all undoubtedly had a purpose and meaning. Raising a young lady’s status, the ultimate goal was just elevating her worth. Only this way was she able to match with an honorable husband. If it was for her entering the imperial harem, or as a certain wangye’s side consort, or even second wangfei, there was no need to go this extra step. His gaze vaguely swept across Jin Qinwang. Regardless of what the truth was, this was all not something he should get involved in. His mother once said, when the new Emperor ascends the throne that is when they brothers will stand out.
Although today was grand, Le Cheng Emperor in the end didn’t deliberately give the court officials the day off.
The Grand Elder Princess kept Jing Wan rather late, finally letting her go when it was about to approach nightfall.
Just, this trip back also attracted quite a few spectators, purely because the presents the Grand Elder Princess prepared were truly a bit too much, with a total of ten carriages. It was no wonder the Grand Elder Princess’s daughter-in-laws were all extremely displeased.

In reality, the moment when the Grand Elder Princess took Jing Wan as an adopted daughter, the Empress already knew her calculations have fallen through. The Grand Elder Princess, that younger sister-in-law, she very much understood. If not Le Cheng Emperor suggesting, she definitely wouldn’t do something like ‘befriending’ high-ranking court officials. Even so, the Empress was still somewhat unwilling to resign, thus proposed to Le Cheng Emperor to let Jing Wan become Kang Qinwang’s second wangfei to sound him out.
Le Cheng Emperor indifferently glanced at her, “This emperor already have plans, the candidate for eldest one’s second wangfei, you can look for someone else.”
Even if she already predicted this, the Empress still couldn’t help feeling suffocated inside. Her son was the eldest di son. Although his abilities were a bit mediocre, he didn’t have any big faults. Reasonably and lawfully, he should all be the legitimate candidate for the heir apparent to the throne. But not only was he not conferred as the crown prince, he was even being suppressed everywhere. Even if the Empress’s ability to endure was first class, sometimes, she still couldn’t help coughing a mouthful of blood.
Three days later, Le Cheng Emperor’s imperial decree came down. That’s right, another decree to bestow a marriage.
Once the imperial decree came down, those that still had various calculations were all caught unprepared.
At this time, if one still wasn’t aware that the Grand Elder Princess taking Luo third miss as an adopted daughter was for Jin Qinwang’s sake, then they have all lived for nothing. Scheming and preparing this much, yet in the end, came out with such an outcome, this was Le Cheng Emperor clearly expressing that he didn’t want to let Luo Pei Shan be used by any one side? At least can’t use marriage connections, this kind of method, to rope him in.
However, this imperial decree made quite a few people who were resentful out of jealousy towards Jing Wan once again take pleasure at another’s misfortune. Some even secretly opened bets, betting how long before Jing Wan meets with mishap, and in the end, was it dying, becoming crippled, or getting ruined. And the timeframe for the bet, one month, two months, three months, or even ten days, twenty days? All in all, there wasn’t one that exceeded three months.
“Luo third miss also cursed husbands, perhaps her fate is just as stiff as Jin Qinwang’s, what if the two have a good outcome?”
“Jin Qinwang is just her third fiancee, but she’s Jin Qinwang’s eighth fiancee. Even if she were to survive by luck and marry into the Jin Qinwang Manor, she still won’t have a good time. Don’t forget, Ruan Fang Fei is still Jin Qinwang’s soon-to-be side consort, can she beat Ruan Fang Fei? Don’t joke.”
Just, it already wasn’t the first time getting ‘slapped in the face’ by Jing Wan. Even if Jing Wan were to fall into the abyss, she would still stand up even taller than before. But these people just were unable to learn from their mistakes.
When she heard of this imperial decree, the ‘good-tempered’ Ruan Fang Fei smashed her things for the first time, and even all the things in her room. Her complexion was dark and heavy, her entire person was practically just like a malevolent spirit, “From the start, already felt unpleasant to the eyes, as expected, this wasn’t without reason.” However, from the looks of it now, directly killing her wasn’t enough to vent one’s anger.

RFF truly is one of the few villainess that gives you the heebie-jeebies every time she appears, sheβs so unpredictable that sheβs scary.
The last part got me screaming internally… “mommy… the psycho’s herrrreeeee” ππ±ππ±ππ±ππ±
I reckon the reason is probably BECAUSE her son can’t do anything by himself. He needs to be supported by the Empress his mother constantly and hasn’t actually achieved anything on his own. Everything is calculated by his mother for him, everything is cleaned up by others. He truly is mediocre.
Wow, the peanut gallery definitely seem like gluttons for being slapped again and again.
Also, time for future hubby to deal with his psycho obsessed stalker permanently, me thinks.
Took me a minute to read this after reading MTL for the past three hours π΅
But I appreciate your translations 10x more now! They flow so well, that without them, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this story π
Thanks again for translating this! π
This author has a lot of typos and spelling errors in chinese so I always wonder how mtl end up lmaooo my favorite was when the author misspelled Jing Wan’s name to gold bowl, and this other character’s name to toilet
Ha ha ha so funny… “gold toilet”. For all you know, perhaps it was a freudian slip.
Nah it’s pretty easy to make typos in chinese because so many characters have the same pronunciation but different meaning.
Iβve been reading these parts with relish. Jing Wan is not just a very satisfying granddaughter and adopted daughter. She is the absolutely most satisfying main character.
Thank you Jen for translating this so beautifully!! you bring so much colour to my life. Thank you!!
With all those wangyes eyeing Jing Wan, I can smell the vinegar already.π€π€π€
The amount of leechers in Ancient times cannot be countedππππππ
…….has that changed much in modern times?
Sadly, recent news of stars cheating on their spouse and surely even more unreported in the non-entertainment world is the answer to Jen’s comment.
That’s why at this point in time Jin Qinwang comes across as lovable only in this aspect…. maybe we will see more gems in the future after their marriage?
uhhhh don’t need to look that deep, there are plenty of thirsty fangirls and fanboys eyeing their idol, those people eyeing Jing Wan is no different from that to me. Put an attractive person in front of Jen and I will eye them too.
But does Jen harbour delusions that they are Jen’s and not anybody elses?
ever heard of self-insert fanfictions, everyone has fantasies
Oh, yeah, good point. Forgot about those because a lot of them can be creepy af, especially anything related to idols or drama actors
