Possessiveness, Asking for the Person (1)

Compared to the outside, the Luo family was even more anxious and gloomy.
Reasonably speaking, for a young lady that had a bad reputation and an unpresentable father, to be able to become a qinwang’s main consort and not side consort, nor concubine, from a certain perspective, was just like raining gold from the heavens. But a certain someone’s reputation was truly too rotten, and aside from those families that purely wanted benefits, probably no one was willing to have their daughter married to him. Unfortunately, those who purely want to have ties with him for benefits didn’t have enough qualifications. His old man the Emperor doted on him, and thus looked down on those people.
However, Le Cheng Emperor was actually quite ruthless. For the sake of balancing the court, not letting others rope in the Head Minister of Appointments, he just had the other party’s most treasured granddaughter pushed into a fire pit. If Le Cheng Emperor were to know these people’s thoughts, he probably would shout for his innocence. This matter had nothing to do with him alright, it was all Beloved Minister Luo’s own idea!
That’s right, this matter, only a countable few knew that this marriage was of the Luo family’s own accord, and moreover, even Le Cheng Emperor didn’t know, this was actually all Jing Wan’s handiwork. Who would have imagined, the two elders of the Luo family, towards Jing Wan’s marriage arrangements, really did completely prioritize her wishes.
Zhang-shi cried awfully miserably, holding Jing Wan and sobbing with all her might ‘my poor daughter’.
Jing Wan was also exhausted from watching. Her mother was crying like her maternal grandfather had just passed away, unable to stop her tears no matter how she coaxed. But, some things, she was just unable to explain to her. Left with no other options, “Mother, don’t cry, if others were to see, they’ll think we’re unsatisfied with his Majesty’s marriage decree.” Clearly it was sought by their family on their own, yet in the end, it was such an outcome. If Le Cheng Emperor were to know, he definitely won’t be happy. Once this Emperor is unhappy, they definitely won’t be well off.
On this bit, Zhang-shi still understood the severity, and finally forced herself to stop crying.
Jing Wan had Zhang-shi pushed to her ‘similarly unsightly looking, even sinking into self-blame’ father, Luo Rong Yan, and just left. Her father was a grown man, so he’ll have to deal with it himself.
But, he only just coaxed Zhang-shi to stop crying. There were still a pile of people with a face full of worries.
Sun Yi Jia had her brows furrowed deathly tight, firmly grabbing Jing Wan’s hand, that appearance of wanting to say something but hesitating made Jing Wan very helpless, “Elder sister-in-law, don’t be like that, things aren’t that serious, believe me.”
“Originally, I was even rejoicing that I didn’t fall into that fire pit, but in the end, it was you. If I’d long known……….”
“What if you’d long known? You don’t want my brother anymore? You would’ve long jumped down to fill that pit?” Jing Wan somewhat didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, reaching out to scrape her nose, “You were schemed against first, and afterwards was unable to marry Jin Qinwang. That pit, you can’t fill even if you want to. Don’t think about these pointless things. If my third brother were to hear, he’ll be jealous.”
“You’re still in the mood to joke.” Sun Yi Jia was furious.
“Elder sister-in-law, don’t have all things viewed that absolute.”
“You’re right, there are no absolutes.” Sun Yi Jia seemingly thought of something, “There’s still more than half a year until your coming-of-age ceremony. During this time, anything can happen. If I can, then you can too.”
Jing Wan already understood what Sun Yi Jia thought of. Dear ancestor, can this kind of thing be recklessly schemed as one pleased? One misstep, and it’ll implicate the entire family, especially under the circumstances where their family had voluntarily sought out this marriage. If his Majesty were to find out, don’t know how furious he will be. When needed, you just fawn over, and when not needed, you just scheme to casually walk away? What do you take the imperial family for? What do you take the esteemed qinwang’s dignity for? She must dispel this thought of hers. Jing Wan leaned forward, whispering a few words by her ear.
Sun Yi Jia looked to Jing Wan in shock, very much in disbelief, “Why?” Why did she do this? Alright, she reluctantly could understand the reason why Jing Wan did this, but Sir Luo and the old madam loved little sister Wan that much, so why would they agree to this? One mishap, and it’ll ruin little sister Wan for life, how could they bear it? Or was it that they were actually the same as the elders of other families, when matters truly concern the clan, all the love and care can instantly melt into nothing? Could it be that in this world, there really wasn’t warmth to speak of?

Seeing her look of despair, even looking as if she was about to collapse, sigh, what train of thought was she starting to go through again? “Aiyaa, there there, it’s not what you think, I really don’t mind. Elder sister-in-law, if Jin Qinwang doesn’t care about me, I may not necessarily not have the opportunity to free oneself. And as long as he has a bit of care towards me, then I won’t be too terribly off. You have to think of it like this, what if by chance this younger sister-in-law of yours is so charismatic that even Jin Qinwang can all be subdued?”
All knew Jing Wan was joking, but the Gong mama behind her silently told her in her heart: ‘Miss, you really are peerlessly charismatic, no need to subdue, that living Enma has long been conquered.’
And in the future, after witnessing that living Enma’s all kinds of pampering towards Jing Wan, Sun Yi Jia will recall Jing Wan’s words today again, endlessly sighing. As expected, regardless of who, there will always be that one that can make them soften up, only depending on whether or not one can encounter, and whether or not one encounter under the right circumstances. And between little sister Wan and Jin Qinwang, there really was nothing out of place.
Alright, Jing Wan temporarily managed to coax another one. The rest probably won’t need for her to come coax.
Right now, she probably needed to go see her grandmother. After receiving the imperial decree, she was sent over to see her mother first, and when she had gone to look for her grandfather, she had let her grandfather temporarily keep this matter from her grandmother, so don’t know whether or not she will be angry at this time?
On the way to the main courtyard, Jing Wan more or less was somewhat nervous. Her grandmother has always wholeheartedly considered for her sake, yet she kept this kind of enormous matter from her; it really wasn’t right. Although she didn’t want to let her grandmother worry, it still doesn’t change the fact that she didn’t want her grandmother obstructing this matter.
Along the way, Jing Wan was lost in thought, and simply didn’t pay attention to the strange looks from the people coming and going. But even if she noticed, she still wouldn’t care.
Arriving at the main courtyard, the servant girls hurriedly bowed to her, “Third miss has come.” And immediately after, they quickly lifted the curtains.
Seeing each and every one all constantly observing her expression, cautiously speaking, Jing Wan remained silent.
“Grandmother……..”
“Taken care of everything on your mother’s side?”
“It’s nothing, besides, my mother still has my father.”
“What are you doing standing that far away, come closer.” Luo Old Madam waved her hand at Jing Wan, and then had the servants all sent out.
Jing Wan sat down next to Luo Old Madam, “Grandmother, sorry, this matter………”
“Your grandfather already told me, I understand Wan Wan’s intentions, don’t worry, grandmother isn’t angry.”
She knew, yet didn’t say a single word, respecting her decision and choice, having her worry towards her buried in the bottom of her heart. Jing Wan felt increasingly guilty, “Grandmother, I shouldn’t have kept it from you.”
“En, in the future, if there’s something, remember to tell grandmother. You have always had propriety in handling things, perhaps grandmother should trust you a little more. In the future, as long as it’s something you’ve carefully thought through, and as long as you think that by doing so is the right thing to do, then just go ahead and do it without hesitation. You will always have us behind you.” This time, Jing Wan had guessed wrong. Luo Old Madam really wasn’t worried. With Jin Qinwang going that far for Jing Wan, if she still worried, then she would’ve long worried to death.
That’s why, at this time, Luo Old Madam also turned black-bellied. She needed to teach this granddaughter of hers a lesson, and that bastard thing that will steal away her treasure can’t be let off that easily either.
Apart from this, the ones with the greatest reaction were probably just Chen Zheng Min and Sun Yi Lin. They never would’ve imagined that in the end, thing would end up like this. If they’d long known……….In reality, setting aside whether or not it was possible to have ‘known in advance’, even if they knew, they still wouldn’t be able to change anything. Never mind power and status, they didn’t have the slightest ability to shake the imperial power. Moreover, withdrawing the engagement with Jing Wan, the cause was all on themselves. For Jing Wan to have fallen into a fire pit, how were they not the main culprits.
Unsure as to which screw was out of place for Sun Yi Lin, in any case, after leaving the palace, he just directly headed to Jin Qinwang Manor.
When Li Hong Yuan learned, he actually didn’t have him blocked outside.
Li Hong Yuan was in the study taking care of some business, and when Sun Yi Lin entered, he didn’t cover up in the slightest either.
Sun Yi Lin although couldn’t see what those things on the table were specifically, but judging from Li Hong Yuan’s attitude, he was more or less able to guess what it was. Sun Yi Lin’s heart jumped. The more the other party didn’t conceal, the more dangerous his situation was.

The unsuspecting comments of JW lol. I’ve always been startled by this tendency of cnovel of using current events as… What’s the opposite of foreshadowing lol because they reveal the outcome and point out the cause a lot. Giving glimpses of the future and tying them to the present. Anyway, can’t wait for that discussion between ML and 2nd ML
There are two places where its if I’d long know instead of known. They are right after another and its during the discussion between JW and SLJ
One (Jing Wan) has volunteered jumped into the tiger’s (LHY) lair, and another one (SYL) has followed. It’s such ample harvest for Jin Qinwang. π
ππAll the internal thoughts of the various characters, as well as the author commentary, is just hilarious.ππ Moreover, SYL didn’t just have a screw loose, it was missing altogether!π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Thanks for the update, Jen.π
What was it? What’s on LHY table that SYL gave such reaction? Ξ£(οΎΠοΎ)
Thanks for the chapter! π
Hahaha… Gong-mama’s internal monologue π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£ I wonder how hard she had to try not to roll her eyes when facing Jin Qinwang π
That is why this novel is such a treasure. Everyone puts a different spin / interpretation on any proclamations / actions while on the actual back story is totally different. Just like how Le Cheng Emperor is viewed as ruthless while in reality, this was personally requested by grandpa Luo. I absolutely love this author and of course our beloved Jen for translating this so beautifully.
Any other novels by the same author??.
I think TWBW is this author’s first novel, the last time I checked their page they have another one that’s ongoing currently, but I haven’t read it. And I doubt it’s being translated.
