However, right now, after learning bits and pieces through Princess Heyang and her Rouge Pavilion, Li Hong Yuan long made preparations for everything. The overall situation, he still didn’t touch, and just controlled the person that was fanning the flames and plotting everything behind the scenes. Probably, not before too long, they will be sent into the capital, that person who, in the past life, was said to be long dead. Li Hong Yuan rather want to see if they’re really someone of the Pei family or not. Maternal clan? Heh, the tyrant Li Hong Yuan once had more than half of the Pei clan branches clipped.
The ones sent to take care of this matter will probably still be old nine and old ten. Since he has already eliminated the greatest cause of disaster, don’t know what kind of ending they will have this time. At best, it was probably just returning with meritorious accomplishments, and at worst, it was just returning in failure, and will probably just get lectured. Then afterwards, perhaps, they will get abandoned by the person they’ve respectively casted themselves under, and be finished in this lifetime.
As for the flooding in the south, two years ago, he already made preparations. The crucial areas of the dam, he has long reinforced. Although it was impossible to completely put an end to this flood, the severe aftermath brought about by the disaster in the end can at least be lightened by sixty percent.
As for those that want to use this to start a revolt, he has long set the stage. So long as the opponent dares to move, they will immediately become fish in the net.
Jing Wan, seeing Li Hong Yuan lost in thought, didn’t disturb him. However, seeing that he seemingly just unconsciously drank wine one cup after another, and moreover, didn’t eat anything to begin with, it would definitely injure the stomach very much. In the end, he was still her fiancee, even having rolled around together on the bed earlier, and moreover, towards her, he was considerably indulgent and pampering. She hesitated for a moment, “Wangye, drinking wine on an empty stomach is the most harmful to the body. It’s best to drink a little less, if not, then just eat a bit of something first.”
Li Hong Yuan smilingly looked to her, as if he’d never lost himself in thought, “Jiao Jiao, this is being concerned for this prince?”
Jing Wan also smiled, no longer having the ‘pouty’ look from being bullied earlier, “If wangye wants to think this, that is also okay.”
“To want to hear something pleasant from Jiao Jiao’s mouth really is quite difficult. Fine, not going to drink anymore.” He casually tossed the cup aside, picking up the chopsticks and carelessly ate a bit, “Has Jiao Jiao finished eating?”
Generally speaking, once the other party has finished eating, she will also ‘finish’ eating. If the other party hasn’t finished eating, she will need to keep company and continue ‘eating’. However, recalling that between them, they were still just fiancees, and towards her, his level of indulgence was high to the point of extraordinary, she thus chose to be ‘willful’ for once, nodding her head, “This subject has already finished eating.”
Li Hong Yuan put down his chopsticks, leaning towards Jing Wan, teasingly smiling, “Jiao Jiao this while is having all the etiquette brought out for display? You weren’t like this earlier, choking and biting this prince, even daringly letting this prince shut up.”
Jing Wan blushed. This was bringing out what shouldn’t be brought out? What, even want to settle the score with her now? Jing Wan didn’t speak, and just quietly stared at him. At the end of the day, she wasn’t as reserved as the locally born and bred young ladies of this era. Since this matter already happened, and she has already blushed about it before, then it was meaningless to continuously cling onto it and not let go.
Li Hong Yuan in the end was still worried about angering her, reaching out to pinch her cheek, “This prince really can’t do anything about you.” Without needing to say much, Eunuch Mu immediately called for someone to bring water for them to wash their hands and rinse their mouths.
Li Hong Yuan already wanted to help Jing Wan wash her hands, but Jing Wan avoided in refusal. He raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything either.
“The rest, forget about it, just put on these buddhist beads.” Li Hong Yuan fetched the buddhist beads and wrapped them around Jing Wan’s wrist. “——-Come, this prince will send you back.” Actually, if possible, he rather want to keep her for a while longer, but quite some time have passed already. Angering Luo Old Madam will be unfavorable towards him seeing Jing Wan prior to marrying.
Although they’ve already done even more intimate things, this kind of intimacy still made Jing Wan somewhat at a loss for what to do. Previously, they’ve only had the fate of a few meetings, so there was no reason for their relationship to suddenly be pulled this close. Although it was mostly Jin Qinwang’s one-sided actions, towards her, he seemed to be very familiar with, and everything he did all appeared natural and carefree. No matter who saw, all won’t think that they were ‘strangers’. “Aside from this subject’s third sister-in-law, towards the previous fiancees, wangye was all like so?” Jing Wan curiously asked.
Really, just purely curious.
Li Hong Yuan glanced at her, unconcernedly opening his mouth, “This prince isn’t familiar with them. More than half of them, never even met.”

Thus the subject was dropped, no longer continuing.
Li Hong Yuan held her hand, matching with her pace, walking relatively slow. “Next door is a courtyard that’s about the same size as this one, and in front of that is the Rouge Pavilion. This place originally was Yun Niang’s place, I requested it from her to renovate.”
Jing Wan knew, Jin Qinwang was revealing to her some what can be considered secretive matters, thus just erected her ears and didn’t open her mouth.
“Jiao Jiao, when you’re with me, you don’t need to be this cautious. My matters, there’s nothing you can’t know about.”
“Many thanks for wangye’s affections, just this subject feels it’s still not the right time.”
Li Hong Yuan helplessly sighed, but didn’t say anymore.
After getting on the carriage, Li Hong Yuan still had her pulled into his embrace, just holding her with one hand.
After having Jing Wan sent back to the Luo Manor, watching her enter the gates, her figure disappearing, he finally let his people drive the carriage away.
He didn’t go look for Yun Niang, but rather directly headed back to the manor. Before the Jin Qinwang Manor gates, there was another esteemed guest waiting for him.
“This old subject greets wangye.”
“Head Cabinet Minister left the yamen rather early today.” Li Hong Yuan sat in the horse carriage, only lifting the curtains, having no intention of coming down from the horse carriage.
“There aren’t any matters today.” That’s why Qi Yuan’s court officials were still relatively free. After finishing one’s task, one can occasionally leave early.
“What are you looking for this prince for?”
“Wangye, if unsatisfied with this one’s daughter, can request his Majesty to take back his decree, why the need to humiliate her like this.” Ruan Rui Zhong said as calmly as possible. Heaven knows how heartbroken he was when he returned home and saw his wife and daughter both with eyes swollen from crying.
Li Hong Yuan coldly sneered, “Sir Ruan has always been unsatisfied with this prince. You want to be a good subject, thus didn’t defy the imperial decree, so based on what do you insist on this prince go be that disobedient son? Having yourself presented as a faithful official for the ruler, for the country, and for this reason, you can abandon your beloved daughter’s happiness, yet you want this prince to bear the disloyal and unfilial reputation. Do you really think that this prince, being covered in dirty water already, a bit more is also no different? Ruan Rui Zhong, this double standard can’t be more obvious.”
Ruan Rui Zhong’s old face reddened. What Li Hong Yuan said wasn’t completely true, yet wasn’t completely wrong either. His lips slightly trembled, “This one’s daughter, in the end, is still your fiancee. Wangye knows that she has always admired you, thus didn’t discuss marriage.”
“This prince’s fiancee’s surname is Luo. Ruan Fang Fei not discussing marriage is your indulgence. Moreover, if you were optimistic about this prince, then you wouldn’t have waited until today. Ruan Rui Zhong, don’t have all the blame pushed onto this prince. Besides, having injured her face, yet still running out before recovering, is she just this restless? Replaced with any other young lady, afraid all would hide in one’s home in shame, and only her, would instead do the opposite. This kind of person, the various good praises piled on her reputation, really makes this prince suspect very much.”

OoooOOoohhh, that smart talk is so gooood~
I love it when LHY talks to people other than JW. He gets vicious, it’s amusing
Thanks for the chapter! 😘
Wow…everyone does take LHY for granted, doesn’t they? They know his reputation has already that bad, so, it should not be a problem to add more to that. – shake head –
Ruan Rui Zhong is trying his luck to see if he can use LHY’s reputation to preserve the honor of his family. I don’t think any of the characters with moderate intelligence would take LHY granted (RRZ is obviously a sly fox). LHY’s actions scream smart and unruly not stupid and unruly ( obviously they don’t know how smart). I think RRZ is just testing it out to see if LHY cares or bothers to say anything.
I am curious now about what the daughter wants. Marry and torture LHY? Not marry and destroy LHY? Destroy JW to make LHY sad?
Jen, there’s something I don’t get. LHY, in the past life, after the Emperor incident and after he came to know of his origin, at that time he decided to take the throne,no? I thought JW was the one who influenced his decision tho? So, LHY becoming Emperor, how did it involve JW?
What emperor incident? Nothing has been explained so far in the novel. Jing Wan only saved his life when he was nearly about to die in the past life and gave him the will to live again at a time when everyone he thought loved him betrayed him. He fought for the throne because it was only way for him to survive. And that last question involves major spoilers so I’m not going to answer.
Wow, just from this teaser, we can see that LHY is practically the shadow emperor already!😲😲
Well, that’s exactly the point of him doing all this in the shadows… so he can control the outcomes, avert certain things and make sure Jing Wan get affected as little as possible.
