Li Hong Yuan had one hand propped up on the edge of the tub, while the other hand held Jing Wan in his arms. Probably this time he really ate his fill. His palm lightly caressed her body, not carrying lust, his entire person all penetrating a satisfied and languid air.

Jing Wan this while also just leaned on his shoulder like as if she didn’t have any bones. Seeing him like this, her anger just rose from more than one place. She kept feeling, the previous matter, even if it was her ‘looking for death’, still can’t just let off this bastard for nothing. Her entire body was just like getting torn apart, then reassembled back together. That feeling was just too sore.

———The cause and effect of everything, she even had to guess on her own, perhaps there were also other reasons. Besides, ‘to not blame those who don’t know’, so why did she have to suffer a calamity? Jing Wan reached out and jabbed his shoulder, “Starting from tonight, go sleep in the study on your own, for half a month.”

This kind of moodiness, Li Hong Yuan rather didn’t mind, just slightly lowering his eyes, hooking a shallow smile, carrying a bit of playfulness as he looked to Jing Wan, “Wan Wan, are you sure you want to do this?”

Jing Wan was a bit frightened by his gaze, uncontrollably scooting outwards.

“If Wan Wan wants to not be able to climb down from the bed for several days in a row, wanting for me to sleep in the study for half a month also isn’t a problem.”

Jing Wan’s face darkened, very much wanting to say: You think you’re a labor animal! However, these words she didn’t dare to say out loud. This kind of equal to provoking words, who knows what kind of aftermath it’ll bring about. She very sullenly shut her mouth.

Li Hong Yuan’s smile became even more obvious, reaching out to lift Jing Wan’s chin, “Wan Wan wants to kick me out the door? I very much look forward to.” Even ambiguously licking his lips.

Jing Wan’s entire person was all unwell, practically giving up on life. This ware, can he be returned?

How would she know that, for a certain someone that can only sleep well holding her, even if she was unyielding for once, she still wouldn’t be able to drive him out.

The result of messing around was just long passing the afternoon meal time.

Unknown as to what mentality he was stemming from, Li Hong Yuan undertook the entire spoon-feeding process. That’s right, spoon-feeding. Jing Wan just needed to open her mouth. In front of this many servants, it’s very shameful alright. However, before Jing Wan could rebel, a certain someone’s one ambiguous smile just made Jing Wan instantly behave. Li Hong Yuan was just like having grabbed onto her weakness.

Having messed around like this today, Jing Wan didn’t have the energy to go to the Luo Manor.

The next day, after the morning meal, Jing Wan just tidied up and prepared to head to the Luo Manor. Even without Noble Consort Su’s task, Jing Wan would still take a trip to the Luo Manor. Everything else aside, exactly how to arrange for Luo Jing Ying still needed a plan.

“Does wangye want to go?” Jing Wan let the servant girls straighten out her clothes as she turned her head to ask.

“Never mind that yesterday you abandoned this prince to enter the palace, today you seemingly want to continue abandoning this prince to return to the maiden home?”

What the hell was this seemingly like carrying a bit of ‘bitter complaint’ tone? The corner of Jing Wan’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch, always feeling a certain someone unsealed some kind of strange attribute. One day, will she get messed with by him to the point of mental degradation?

Jing Wan took Li Hong Yuan that was of the ‘herbal plaster’ typing back to the Luo family.

(T/N: Tbh I’m not exactly sure what the author means with this line, but I don’t think it’s a typo since I can’t think of any other similar sounding words that fits here that would make more sense, so my theory is it’s a joke on how LHY is clingy like a herbal plaster.)

Without the qinwang procession, they can just spare the over-elaborate formalities somewhat.

Luo Jing Ying’s situation didn’t have any improvement. When Jing Wan went to see her, Liu-shi was at the side personally tending to her.

Jing Wan consoled a few words, then turned to head to the main courtyard.

Just, the situation in the main room made her a bit hard to believe. A certain someone not only didn’t sit in the main seat, he was even holding a little beansprout in his hand, Luo Jing Bo and Sun Yi Jia’s daughter, Jing Wan’s little niece.

Li Hong Yuan just loosely used one hand carrying bit a of strength, while the little beansprout laid on his lap, his other hand lifting her tender little hand, seemingly as if the little beansprout might fall down from his lap if she were to slightly move. The people in the room, not a single one wasn’t fearful and alarmed, especially Sun Yi Jia, hating that she can’t go forward and have her daughter snatched back.

However, a certain someone didn’t have the slightest awareness, seemingly all his attention was all on the little guy. Although, when Jing Wan came in, as if sensing her, he lifted his head, his expression unconsciously softening, hooking a shallow smile.

The blossoming peony’s destructive power definitely wasn’t small. Handsome, noble, and elegant, even Jing Wan, who frequently gets tormented by him, her heart at this time, also couldn’t help but speed up, let alone the group of servant girls serving at the side, their entire face flushed red, hurriedly lowering their heads, and greeting Jing Wan.

Jing Wan hurriedly went forward, dispensing her grandmother and elder sister-in-law from bowing, then turning back to Li Hong Yuan, picking up her little niece, “Wangye, just now, your method of holding the child was very dangerous.”

“Don’t worry, won’t fall.” Li Hong Yuan adjusted his sitting posture, his elbow propped up against the armrest, supporting his chin, slightly raising his head, watching Jing Wan skillfully amuse the child. He didn’t feel this scene was warm, but rather feeling it was a bit irksome to the eye.

Imagining for a moment, if that child was his and Jing Wan’s, seemingly that irksome feeling didn’t wane in the slightest.

“Have the child carried down.” Li Hong Yuan casted a glance at Sun Yi Jia, his face expressionless, even a bit cold.

With just this behavior of his, Sun Yi Jia hated that she can’t whip him. That wonderful feeling just now when smiling towards little sister Wan, as expected, was all fake. But the other party’s status was honorable, so Sun Yi Jia could only endure, smiling towards Jing Wan, “It just happens to be time for milk, I’ll take her down first, then come back later so we can talk.” She also knew why Jing Wan returned today.

“Alright.” Jing Wan nodded.

Afterwards, Luo Old Madam waved away the servants. In the room, there were just the three of them left.

“Towards the arrangements for fourth sister, what thoughts does grandmother and grandfather have?” Jing Wan directly asked.

“Originally, we were thinking, once she wakes up, just secretly have her sent back to Qi’an Fu, but your third aunt continuously begged, saying she’s already sorry to her daughter, and doesn’t want to let your fourth sister be all alone. Because of little eight, she also can’t follow her back to Qi’an Fu, just wanting to have your fourth sister kept in the capital.”

“Fourth sister was Rui Qinwang’s concubine after all, and for the sake of preserving face, he absolutely doesn’t want others to know that fourth sister has returned. Perhaps in a few days, he will just put out news that fourth sister has passed away. If others were to find out that fourth sister is still properly living, it won’t be good for anyone. Previously, my explanation to Rui Qinwang was also that fourth sister has ‘died’.” Jing Wan explained.

“In that case, if we want to have the best of both worlds, can only give her another identity. First let her live at the estate for a period of time, then have her received back to the manor in the name of a relative family’s child, staying indoors and never going out. At present, suppose she herself also won’t be unable to withstand the boredom, wanting to run out all day. Even if others were to find out about her existence, still can cover up the matter. Then in another two three years……….” Luo Old Madam meaningfully glanced at Li Hong Yuan.

By that time, with Li Hong Yuan in power, there won’t be anymore misgivings. Even if directly telling outsiders that Luo Jing Ying is a widow, afraid there will still be a lot of people that want to propose marriage. This was something that everyone was all well aware inside.

Jing Wan nodded. The matter was just settled like this.

Shortly after, Jing Wan also roughly said a few words about her trip to the palace yesterday.

“This, Wan Wan, you don’t need to worry about. Everything naturally has your grandfather to take care of, otherwise there’s still Jin Qinwang, no?”

Li Hong Yuan confidently nodded his head. Naturally, there was him for all things.

  1. Jen-

Describing someone as an herbal plaster means exactly as you thought… the person is clingy or practically stuck to you and hard to get away from. Another, less frequently used term, is dog skin plaster. Both have the same meaning, but reference the historical difference between how the plasters were made… thank goodness for modern medical advancements! I suppose an equivalent English saying would be referring to someone as ‘stuck to you like glue’.

I’ve been following your translation since the beginning and quietly applauding you all the way. It’s truly a wonderfully written novel and I’m so glad it’s being translated by someone as dedicated and passionate as you are. Thank you for all of your hard work and so very kindly sharing it with others!

    1. Oh thank you for informing me! I had a really hard time looking this up because all the results were just about herbal plaster in the medical sense.

      1. Reading that “herbal plaster” I immediately imagined your drawing of LHY’s face but this time with the word herbal plaster written on his back 🤣
I also automatically thought of the term in my native language; “clingy/sticking like a post stamp” 😂

  2. Have to admit, if I was Jing Wan, I’d work to nip that possessiveness of his in the bud now. Otherwise, when they do end up having a child, he may even keep the child away from her and hardly let her see it. And how heart-breaking would that be?

    1. You’ll see that he does have self-control most of the times, since his goal is really to make Jing Wan happy, like he has never tried to keep Jing Wan away from her family, because he understands that Jing Wan needs family unlike him, so most of the times he restrains his own feelings. But he does have a mental illness and it’s not like it can magically be cured. It’s like telling a depressed person they need to keep their depression in check, in a time period where there is no treatment for it.
