The Grand Elder Princess smiled, “Heard yesterday, you sent a person to the Eldest Princess’s manor?”
Jing Wan instantly knew what happened, “In other words, that slave girl was eldest fuma’s person? In that case, I perhaps should look for eldest princess for tea.”
The eldest princess naturally was just Le Cheng Emperor’s eldest daughter, even two three years older than Li Hong Yuan. However, because her birth mother was merely a palace maid, and even if giving birth to her, the position she obtained was also very low. Her fuma although was a son of an influential family, he belonged to the kind that was the ‘spoiled young son’ of the family, completely a wastrel. Even if nearing thirty, still unable to settle down, playing around with other wastrels, fickle and lustful. That woman yesterday, he’d directly asked for from Li Hong Yuan.
The eldest princess, because wasn’t favored, having no one to stand up for her, never mind managing her fuma, she herself was also a punching bag. Her fuma often say that it was because of her that his future prospects were severed, thus was boldly and rightfully not good to her. But in reality, that was just mud that couldn’t hold up the wall, and because of having a princess wife, he just had everything blamed on the eldest princess, giving a perfect excuse to his drunken dream-like days, and yet, his family even really believed this.
He used the eldest princess’s money to visit brothels, book performers, used the eldest princess’s houses to raise concubines and shu children. The eldest princess emptied out her personal wealth for him, yet still unable to obtain any good.
This kind of thing, prior to marrying Li Hong Yuan, Jing Wan had already learned about, and towards that kind of man, it naturally was exceptionally detesting, but towards the eldest princess, it was also angry at her unwillingness to fight. For better or worse she was still a princess. Setting aside her birth mother, in her body, for better or worse, there was still half of his Majesty’s blood. If she makes a ruckus, his Majesty, even if just for the sake of his own face, wouldn’t possibly disregard her.
In the end, it was still because her personality was too soft. It’s not like she completely didn’t have backing, yet she still allowed others to bully.
However, although that was her husband’s older sister, they weren’t the least bit close. If there isn’t anyone that was familiar present, even if encountering, Li Hong Yuan perhaps won’t even know who the other party was. As such, who would still stick their nose in other people’s business. However, perhaps can use this opportunity to give that eldest fuma a bit of a lesson————purely because one was unable to keep watching.
The Grand Elder Princess was speechless. This adopted daughter’s thoughts really was a bit too different from the mass. It hasn’t even been that long, yet it was already causing a storm throughout the city, yet she still wanted to look for the eldest princess to ‘drink tea’?
“Do you know what your current reputation is like outside?”
Jing Wan unconcernedly smiled, “Nothing more than just a jealous wife, malicious and cold-hearted, and on the more serious side, it’s also just not being worthy of being a wife of the imperial family. Prior to leaving the capital for Jiangnan, wasn’t there already this kind of signs?”
“Could it be that this wasn’t enough? All say you’re clever and meticulous, but I say you’re just thoughtless and nitwitted.” The Grand Elder Princess was somewhat ‘hating the iron for not becoming steel’. “Moreover, since you know what kind of consequences there will be, why still insist on doing this? Merely a lowly slut, there’s plenty of ways to sort out, why handle in public under numerous eyes, even saying something like throwing into the city moat. Wasn’t this deliberating leaving behind material to use against you? How can you do this kind of stupid thing?”
“Adoptive mother, don’t worry, it’s fine. No matter how much others say, as long as our wangye doesn’t say anything, then no one will be able to do anything to me. After all, even his Majesty seemingly doesn’t dare to gamble on whether or not they can still find another daughter-in-law that matches with Jin Qinwang’s eight characters. Besides, our wangye is just an idle person. Even if his wangfei is a bit lacking in conduct, so what?”
Reputation and whatnot, Jing Wan really didn’t care all that much. In addition to having her husband’s support, she completely didn’t need to worry about what her emperor father-in-law will do either.
“As for why, adoptive mother, if this daughter says one was also forced, would you believe?” She revealed a pitiful look.
The Grand Elder Princess completely abandoned her bearing, directly rolling her eyes at Jing Wan. It can be seen, what attitude the Grand Elder Princess had.
Jing Wan inwardly sighed. Clearly she was telling the truth, yet how come no one believed her. If not for being forced, she wouldn’t have easily asked for the person’s life in that kind of situation either.

“Fine, I’m also too lazy to explain to you, as long as you have an understanding inside. However, I’ll still warn you, don’t go overboard. Hong Yuan not saying anything now, that’s because of still having you cupped in the palm. If in the future, this changes, then everything today will just be a wrong, a sin. When time comes, the one to suffer will only be you.”
“Many thanks adoptive mother, I understand.” Don’t go overboard? There’s still more to come. Jing Wan wiped a bitter tear for herself.
Jing Wan also wasn’t a hundred percent certain that Li Hong Yuan won’t have change heart, but this kind of ‘distant worry’ truly wasn’t necessary. That was purely just making oneself worry for no reason. She just needed to continue believing him in the ‘present’.
“Additionally, this matter spread way too quickly. If not having someone deliberately pushing along the waves, it definitely wouldn’t be like this. I even suspect that this matter is someone’s deliberate scheme, else a lowly slave, never mind not knowing shame, where would she even have such big guts, daring to do this kind of thing that made one’s master lose all face? The person, at this time, perhaps has already disappeared.”
Things that the Grand Elder Princess would think of, Jing Wan and them naturally also thought of, “Probably because of Jiangnan’s matter. Adoptive mother probably also heard about me wantonly taking in bribes in Jiangnan. Just don’t know whether this matter was directed at wangye and I just happened to run into, or directed at me to begin with.”
“Taking in bribes? Because of his Majesty?” The Grand Elder Princess believed that she still had a bit of an understanding towards Jing Wan, and moreover, based on Jin Qinwang Manor’s wealth, this truly wasn’t necessary.
“Adoptive mother is wise.” Jing Wan magnanimously admitted.
“Then it’s fine. Because of his Majesty, you ended up bearing a tainted name. Based on my understanding of his Majesty, at this time, if someone dares to do anything to you, he will definitely protect you.”
“En, it’ll be even more troublesome when the living Enma goes to pick a fight. After all, regardless of whether it’s targeted at me or targeted at wangye, it all swept his face. Wangye isn’t one that will silently suffer a loss.”
“Then I’ve worried for nothing.” As soon as the Grand Elder Princess thought of Li Hong Yuan’s temper and conduct, she just couldn’t help but headache. For him to not go bother others was already not bad, so to dare rush forward to provoke him, if not water entering the brains, then it was just having holes in the head.
Shortly after, they continued chatting about Jiangnan’s scenery. Speaking of which, the Grand Elder Princess also once traveled to the Jiangnan region before. Recalling it at this time, it was mostly reminiscing.
“Big sister Wan, big sister Wan, you’ve finally come back?” Having yet to see the person, instead hearing the voice first, if not Yu Yao Wenzhu, then who else?
“Seems like Yu Yao came back earlier than expected.” When Jing Wan entered the Grand Elder Princess Manor, she just heard the Grand Elder Princess say that Yu Yao had gone with her older brother back to the Jiang family main residence and just happened to be returning today. If not at noon, then it was just in the afternoon. This while was rather timely.
The Grand Elder Princess, upon hearing, also smiled. Her older daughter got raised crooked, and her sons not taking up an official post, she was also too lazy to say anything. At present, only this youngest daughter alone still appeared quite good in various aspects. This can also be considered a big relief.
Yu Yao energetically ran in. Upon seeing her mother, she also realized that she’d forgotten her manners, properly standing still, “Greetings mother, I’ve returned.”
The Grand Elder Princess nodded, and didn’t get angry either.
Yu Yao inwardly rejoiced, even secretly sticking out her little tongue, thinking that others won’t see. In reality, the Grand Elder Princess and Jing Wan both saw clearly, and both helplessly laughed.
Yu Yao turned towards Jing Wan, “Big sister Wan, I really missed you. To think that you actually stayed in Jiangnan for that long.”
Jing Wan hugged Yu Yao, “I also missed Yu Yao. Our Yu Yao has grown taller, already about to become a big girl.”
“It’s not ‘about to become a big girl’. I’m already a big girl.” Yu Yao stuck out her little chest and said.
“Yes, yes, yes.”
Shortly after, more people came in. Clearly, it was the ones that had traveled together with Yu Yao. Two pairs of husband and wife, as well as their children. In total, four adults and three children.
Compared to Yu Yao, these people were much more formal. The two men were rather elegant and graceful, having propriety in their speech and conduct, but the two young madams just appeared somewhat reserved. It was still okay in ordinary families, but in the Grand Elder Princess Manor, they seemingly were a bit unpresentable. However, Jing Wan also could tell, because the Grand Elder Princess didn’t like them, they were somewhat afraid of the Grand Elder Princess, so the Grand Elder Princess naturally was just even more unhappy. This was practically a vicious cycle. And the children seemingly also somewhat took after their respective mother.

Thanks for the chapter 😉
Thanks for the update ! I aml also curious to know who dare to set up such an obvious trap.
I hope you don’t mind my nitpicking, but I’d use “wouldn’t have” instead of “would haven’t”.
It’s a typo, not a deliberate choice.
Oh wow, so we have the next round of the Courting Death stakes. I wonder who the competitor is this time? Will it be a previous entrant who didnt get enough or will it be a brand new competitor who recently had some new ventilation added to their skull? or maybe they failed at swimming and traded something with a fish.
i love how Jing Wan wants to go “have tea” not to actually help the princess but to torture and screw with a slag wastrel. Definitely taking lessons from a certain someone hahaha XD
