When the two captains learned that the Head Minister of Rites and the Head Magistrate of the Judicial Court were also at the scene, they hurriedly went over to pay their respects.
Luo Pei Shan had a cold expression, however he didn’t randomly take his anger out on them, “This old one’s granddaughter still hasn’t been found. Asking to trouble the city defense squad to send some people to help look for her.” At this time, he naturally didn’t have any portraits to give them. Besides, it’s not absolutely necessarily to need a portrait to find someone either.
The fire rescue army captain, practically without even thinking, agreed to help look. Originally, letting the city defense squad help was already somewhat neglecting the public duty for a private cause. To think this fire rescue army captain was actually still thinking about trying to gain personal favor at this time, now that was really failing one’s duty. “Then why don’t you go into the Hundred Flower Building and help this old man look then.”
The fire rescue squad captain’s soul was nearly scared out of his body by Luo Pei Shan’s icy gaze. “S-sir, please forgive me.”
“Sir, it is chaotic here and truly not safe, how about moving to another place first.” He then looked to the unknown which family’s little daughter next to them. If these few were to have any mishap, it was undoubtedly a ‘life losing’ matter.
“No need. Just take care of your own matters.” From the start, they’ve been standing in a relatively safe corner that didn’t block the path in any way. The fire’s reach won’t spread to this place, and it won’t affect those people who were frantically escaping from danger either.
If it weren’t for the fact that of the three of them, two were elderly old men, and one was an unmarried young lady, and were prone to mishap amidst this chaos, they probably would have gone to help search too.
Time gradually went by little by little. Luo Pei Shan’s expression became increasingly unwell. He was practically convinced that his good granddaughter wasn’t able to leave the Hundred Flower Building. For a moment, he very much blamed himself. If it wasn’t for him greedily wanting to take that girl out, or if he was able to have looked after her some more, then she probably wouldn’t have had to suffer this unexpected calamity. Also there was his old wife, she loved the third girl that much. The old having to send off the young. How will she be able to bear…..
“She’s found, she’s found, old master, third miss has been found.” The servant’s excited voice was heard in the distant.
Looking to the Hundred Flower Building’s raging flames, Luo Pei Shan was nearly in despair. There was even that short period of time, where he seemed to have lost his soul. The servant’s voice suddenly startled him awake, “Where at?” Following the voice, he hastily rushed over.
A sorrowful looking Sun Yi Jia also immediately let out a happy expression and quickly followed after.
Gong mama slowly walked forward carrying Jing Wan with a limp. Sun Yi Lin was next to her, separated by a bit of distance, shielding. Gong mama’s leg appeared to be injured, yet she steadily held Jing Wan in her arms.
“What happened?” Luo Pei Shan saw that Gong mama’s hair was disheveled, and both, on her face and body, were some traces black ash. Looking at that stance, her leg seems to be quite injured as well, but more importantly, third girl seems to be unconscious.
“Old master, please forgive me, it’s all this servant’s fault for not protecting miss well. There were too many people, and when going down the stairs, miss accidentally got bumped. This servant worried that we wouldn’t be able to get out any time soon, and seeing that the back door was closer, decided to take miss to towards that side. However, unexpectedly, the back side was just as chaotic. While passing through the winding corridors, a horizontal wood beam fell, and this servant got shoved. This servant sprained an ankle, and miss hit her head again. With miss like this, it was difficult to move about carrying her, so we spent quite some time trying to get out.” In order for the story to be able to match on both sides, Gong mama blurred the time when Jing Wan was unconscious. Because she was very clear, miss was definitely fine, so the specifics won’t be examined too closely. However, she felt rather guilty inside.
How could she not feel guilty? If it wasn’t for that living Enma making such a mess, would they need to be covered in dust and dirt? Even if he had some sort of plan, he clearly could have avoided them. But for the sake of that bit of ‘shameful’ desire, everyone all had to suffer with him. Luckily, he didn’t go overboard with miss, else she didn’t know if she would be able to hold back her anger and not beat him up.
Although Jing Wan had fainted, she entirely looked much better than Gong mama. Luo Pei Shan clearly couldn’t blame her, “Let’s just go back first.” Just, Gong mama although held the person securely, her leg injury will affect their speed and would delay getting Jing Wan’s injury checked. The person had already fainted, who knows how serious it was. How about changing a person? The servant girls most likely won’t be able to, as for others…..
“Old master, just let this servant hold her. This servant’s leg is fine.” In order for her story to be believable, the injury on her leg was undoubtedly real. However, this bit of injury for her really wasn’t a big deal. If she were to let a man hold miss, who knows how insane that living Enma will get. If it were a servant boy or attendant, they’ll definitely be put to death by him in secret. If it’s Gentleman Sun, death, probably not, but he’ll be very very unfortunate.

Luo Pei Shan hesitated for a moment, then nodded. A young lady’s reputation was too important. After bidding farewell to Head Magistrate Diwu and the Sun family siblings, they hurriedly left. Gong mama disregarded her injury and walked very fast.
The remaining two sides also separately left.
Sun Yi Jia saw her own fifth brother absent-mindedly staring in the direction Jing Wan and the others left in. This for him, can be said to be extremely rare. Moreover, his worry for Jing Wan earlier definitely wasn’t false either. Some things were already very obvious. Then thinking back to last time at home, the person Li Ru Yu picked a fight with seemingly was precisely Jing Wan. And fifth brother’s behavior, possibly wasn’t just because Li Ru Yu’s conduct really angered him. He said before that he just spoke a few words with someone, and no doubt that someone was a girl. At that time, even if they really did unintentionally meet, Jing Wan wouldn’t have spoken to fifth brother first. For fifth brother to speak to a girl of his own accord, this was a first.
“Fifth brother, in the afternoon, I’ll go to the Luo Manor and check on little sister Wan.”
“Alright.” Sun Yi Lin seemed to answered without even thinking. But he seemed to have also thought of something and slightly frowned.
“I just feel familiar at first sight with little sister Wan. Just unmarried young ladies becoming friends, what difficulties are there?”
“You’re right, I was thinking too much.” Although people of different factions, because of the elders in their own families’ influence, very rarely became good friends with one another, it’s not like there weren’t any. Guys perhaps may still need to consider some things, but for girls, especially unmarried young ladies, it actually really wasn’t that big of a deal.
“Fifth brother is confused from worrying.” Sun Yi Jia smilingly said.
Sun Yi Lin saw Sun Yi Jia’s rather teasing look. How could he still not know her meaning? He coughed once trying to cover it up, “Don’t be silly.”
That smile of Sun Yi Jia’s became even more profound. However, she very quickly restrained her smile, “Little sister Wan’s words, I very much approve. However, if she was the Luo family’s first branch’s young miss, perhaps there was still a bit of possibility.” Her own marriage was being controlled by others, and fifth brother can’t do as he pleased either. Even if she’d thought it through, feeling depressed was also unavoidable. She herself didn’t have someone she liked, and so it was whatever. But if one were to have someone in their heart, yet couldn’t have their wish fulfilled, they would no doubt feel bitter inside.
“Don’t worry, this matter your fifth brother naturally has a plan.” Sun Yi Lin, seeing that he was seen through by his own little sister, no longer hid the matter. Anyways, when he saw that she was still alive, he’d already solidified certain thoughts. There weren’t any disheartened feelings in those words, instead it sounded rather confident.
The first thing Sun Yi Jia thought of was, could it be that fifth brother plans on asking his Majesty to decree a marriage? Based on how much his Majesty doted on him, this wasn’t something impossible. Her eyes couldn’t help but lightened up too. If his Majesty sent a decree, who would still be able obstruct it?
Sun Yi Lin’s reliance naturally wasn’t really his Majesty. As the son of heaven, his trust and favor, who knows how long it can last. His Majesty can be considered to be a wise ruler, and wasn’t indefinitely moody either. However, Sun Yi Lin had never thought of seeking something from him of his own accord. Grandmother will help him, but he wasn’t in a hurry for the time being. He needed to wait until after his little sister settles her marriage. However, towards this matter, Sun Yi Lin still felt guilty towards his younger sister. He hesitated, wondering whether or not he wanted to tell her. “Come on, let’s go back first.”
That said, as the only fish the escaped the net, a certain heavily injured secret guard hastily took care of the injuries on his body and changed his clothes, before weakly entering Rui Qinwang’s residence.

Thanks for the chapter!
I’ll take a look later
Wow!
You really translate that one too?
I like them both, just waiting for more chaps of the Fragrant Orchard then have abit of marathon XD
Oh, you translate that too? Wow, two of my current top 5 are your novels, though I would have never guessed since they are so different. Especially DXL’s exaggerated opness that makes me cringe versus the normalcy of LJW that makes me so happy.
Yeeee DXL is a more cliche MC of the genre, I actually cringe just as much at the OP every time ahaha though i’m glad that novel isn’t as obnoxious with the OPness. I think because the tone of that novel is overall light and warm I tend to tolerate it a bit more.
Yeah, I think the author making the tone less serious and dark helps it make more funny instead of full on cringey, though some of it still remains…
It’s actually surprisingly hard trying to find an ancient setting novel to translate that doesn’t have a female MC that knows medicine or is some sort of ex-assassin TTvTT where all the normal MCs at….
I count all of the ones I know in one hand… ;^;
I’m also reading that novel on Rebirth Online! So happy to have you tranalating both projects!! Thank you!
I love both of your novel that being translated. Thank you. You do a great job b(^_^)d
