Perfection to the Point of Unreal, Bestowing a Marriage (3)

Zhou Ying Shuang cheerfully smiled. She couldn’t see, so she just used her hands to touch. Even if she were to accidentally prick her hand, she didn’t care.

After witnessing this, Sun Yi Jia and Yuan Qiao Qiao looked to one another and smiled. Even though their arrival to White Dragon Temple was very terrible, to still be able to happily gather together right now was also a rather good thing.

Actually, something like flower arranging, young ladies of the boudoir more of less have all come in contact with before. The basics weren’t hard, and more importantly, some of the little techniques Jing Wan showed were all very useful.

“Her age is the smallest, yet she is the one that’s the most considerate and knows how to take care of others the most. Such a considerate young lady, if I was your mother, I would certainly like too.” Madam Zhou replied.

Luo Rong Hui smiled, “Previously, our family’s Qiao Qiao had been sickly and listless the whole time. If not, then it was just yelling that her leg hurts. But this while, she seems to have completely forgotten.”

“Yes, this situation is already much better than anticipated. Now that they’re in a good mood, they can also recover a little faster.”

“Miss, the things you wanted have been brought over.” Gong mama brought along servants carrying a large and heavy wooden case.

“What is this?” Yuan Qiao Qiao curiously asked.

Jing Wan didn’t beat around the bush either and directly opened the wooden case. Yet inside were all mud shaped into squares.

“These were what you had asked the monks to help with just now? What is this thing used for?” Sun Yi Jia asked in confusion.

“Of course it’s for flower arranging.” She didn’t explain much and just directly set about her task.

The mud bricks were moved to the table and stacked one by one. Some places were a little tall, and some places were a little short. Of course, these things didn’t need to be done by Jing Wan herself. There were servant girls that moved according to her orders. After the first step was complete, Jing Wan began decorating. She didn’t touch the originally square-shaped mud bricks, only adding on various kinds of leaves, twigs, as well as a variety of wild flowers of all sizes and colors. When her hands stopped, the mud bricks were no longer that originally sharp-edged and distinct shape. It had completely turned into a very large, very beautiful, flower arrangement base.

Soon after, Jing Wan began inserting the flowers into this base. Because it was all just soft mud, it naturally was rather effortless to do.

The flower arrangement that occupied more than half the table, under Jing Wan’s hands, very quickly formed shape.

The flower arrangements they’d seen in the past, for the most part, were all just done in vases. This was their first time learning that flowers arranging could be done this way too. Sun Yi Jia couldn’t help going forward, wanting to touch it, but seemingly was also scared of damaging it and didn’t dare to touch. She could only let out a sigh, “Truly very beautiful.”

Luo Rong Hui and Madam Zhou both couldn’t help closing in for a closer look, “The skillfulness of Miss Luo’s hands really makes one speechless.”

“Their not worthy of madam’s praise. It’s just that I think a little more than others, but in fact, anyone is able to do it.”

“But it’s precisely because you thought a little more that other’s are unable to.”

Jing Wan slightly blushed. This really couldn’t be considered her idea. She only just had that tiny bit more of knowledge and experience, but she just wasn’t able to explain it.

“Mother, don’t block it, let me properly look at it too.” Yuan Qiao Qiao impatiently called out.

“Alright, alright, I’ll move.” Luo Rong Hui shifted to the side.

Amidst the liveliness, only Zhou Ying Shuang couldn’t see. She felt anxious inside, but just quietly leaned against her seat, attempting to imagine that special flower arrangement. During the entire process, a servant girl was at her side carefully narrating everything to her. She tried to imagine to the best of her abilities, but what came to mind was very vacant and not all that beautiful. She felt somewhat powerless.

Suddenly her hand was grasped, and Jing Wan’s voice softly sounded by her ear, “Once your eyes recover, I’ll specially make all kinds of flower arrangements for you to see.”

“You’re the one saying this, so when the time comes, if you can’t fulfill my request, I won’t let you off.” Zhou Ying Shuang lightly swayed Jing Wan’s hand.

Jing Wan did as she said she would and made a lot of flower arrangements, filling up both Yuan Qiao Qiao and Zhou Ying Shuang’s rooms.

While this side was rather harmonious and cheerful, on Li Hong Yuan’s side, it wasn’t all that wonderful.

“……Ruan Fang Fei, after learning that Wan Wan and them went to the peach orchard, deliberately went? She didn’t have any reactions seeing Sun Yi Jia, and her attention was instead more on Wan Wan?”

“Replying to master, yes.”

Have to say, Li Hong Yuan’s understanding towards Ruan Fang Fei was just her very unusual cut-throat nature, yet never thinking herself to be wrong, and also those strange thoughts of hers. As for whether or not she envied any of the others outstanding ladies, he really didn’t know, nor cared to know. However, if she were to somehow target Jing Wan for some reason, then he couldn’t not care.

Li Hong Yuan quietly contemplated for a moment, and after long while, finally opened his mouth, “Have the people prepared, once Wan Wan returns to the capital, immediately send them to her side. In addition, Ruan Fang Fei’s side can’t relax either. Also follow the movements in the capital closely, how imperial father will handle this matter in the end, this prince needs to know first things.”

“Yes.”

Actually, regardless whether it was Eunuch Mu or An Yi, under this kind of situation, they both thought, why not just directly have Ruan Fang Fei eliminated, or could it be that in his heart, towards that Miss Ruan, there really was……

Li Hong Yuan swept a glance over, and the two immediately had their thoughts abandoned, seemingly afraid that their master would be able to tell.

In the next few days, Jing Wan and them all got by very peacefully, and also very happily. Jing Wan not only made flower arrangements for them, she even taught them how to make rouge using peach blossoms as the main ingredient.

There was also that once or twice where Yuan Qiao Qiao and Zhou Ying Shuang were lifted out in soft recliners, running all over the mountain. They were able to play rather cheerfully, just those heavy labor servant women had to endure hardship. However, for the sake of her ‘older sisters’, Jing Wan could only just apologize to them.

And as for the three madams, seeing their own family’s miss happy, and their bodies recovering quickly, even if their words and actions were somewhat out of bound, they just turn a blind eye.

Sun Yi Jia perhaps was used to it, and towards her mother’s absence, she didn’t express anything.

And Li Hong Yuan although didn’t visit every night, he would at least go once every other night. However, fortunately, aside from one of the nights, having used a bit of nerve calming medicine on Jing Wan, and slept holding her, the rest of the times, he only just watched her. He would just sit for an hour and then leave.

Days like these continued for seven to eight days, all the way until Li Hong Yuan received news from the capital.

“Bestowed a marriage? Imperial father had Sun Yi Jia bestowed to this prince?” Li Hong Yuan lightly tapped the surface of the table, “Clearly knowing that this prince likes beauties, he bestowed a disfigured one to this prince, figuring that because this prince’s whereabouts are ‘unknown’ and is unaware of this matter, this prince won’t defy the imperial decree?”

Each and every one lowered their heads, not daring to breathe. Besides, how many times has master been bestowed a marriage?

“Go make arrangements, and let Ruan Fang Fei be bestowed to this prince as a side consort. The time can be a little delayed, postponing by ten days to half a month is all okay.”

Master, just what do you want to do?

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

Hoh, the TL explanation at the end clears things up. Otherwise I’d wonder why the hell he’d arrange it like that. So that’s why he’s keeping her around still.

    1. Well it’ll eventually be revealed, or at least implied, in later chapters, so it technically is a spoiler in a way, as with a lot of other mysteries in this novel……….I’m just impatient.

      1. Tsk tsk. Thanks for the warning though! I hate spoilers but I had to read this one because I guessed (correctly) that there are circumstances around being a second wife I didn’t know. I forgive you. This time. You must already be suffering with your impatience in such a slow paced novel mouhahaha

  2. The emperor’s really asking for his unpredictable son to do something unpredictable… it can’t be at the instigation of somebody, could it? It doesn’t seem like the emperor is easy to manipulate but pillow talks can be powerful means to bring a man to heel… sometimes. Ugh. Stupid emperor. 😑🤦‍♀️

Thanks for the chapter, @Jen! 😁

    1. He’s not really stupid but not that smart either ahahha he’s more described as just a mediocre emperor

    2. Hahahaha! That Emperor though. Spurring him into action. Well spotted.

  3. I can’t seem to guess this emperor’s plans… i thought he rather ‘spoiled’ LHY, so bestowing on him a ‘marred’ girl even if she has powerful background LHY would take that as an offense and raise hell…

i find it quite daring of Jing Wan to say that her friend’s vision will be healed after some time with so much certainty, this kind of injuries (eyes area or other delicate parts) may become uncurable without proper treatment and in that age medical treatment wasn’t like nowadays…and she isn’t an all-powerful assassin doctor goddess transmigrated but a rather normal person, so there is (i think) a high probability her friend wouldn’t recover her sight (which is not gonna happen, she will be able to see again and will be all ‘oh my sis Wan Wan is the best, the prettiest, the most kind, the most knowledgeable, the most gentle….’)

    thx for the chapter ^^

    1. I can’t remember the order of events correctly so I don’t remember if the chapter explaining this has been posted or not———–but she didn’t injure her eyes directly, it’s like temporary blindness from fluid build up. Her eyes itself weren’t damaged. Also there’s the over 100year old fossil Grandmaster with medical skills.

Also you’re giving the emperor too much credit, he’s not very smart sometimes lmaooo i think it’ll be explained in next chapter or the one after——-
