Arriving at Jingfu Temple Again

Towards these sudden rumors, Xun Che naturally wasn’t surprised in the slightest. Ever since the Renshun Crown Prince Vermilion Umbrella incident, when he first started taking up the Chief Secretary of the Central Secretariat position, the doubts regarding his age and qualifications practically have never stopped outside. He naturally didn’t mind that much. After all, compared with the various matters of the past life, these truly were insignificant.
Comparatively speaking, it was actually Yu Lingxin that was rather angry. Even though knowing that these random sayings outside were actually just like the situation back then when Madam Qii entered the capital, seemingly unintentionally mentioning Cheng Yanling’s various matters, already no longer the simple discord between relatives, instead Changchun Palace’s attempt to stir up the situation, striking back at Qin Wang and Xun Che, but when hearing Bai Guo vaguely recount certain sayings, Yu Lingxin’s face still turned cold.
Ganlu and Shuangye quickly went up to console, “Those people’s nonsense, it’s better for young madam to not take seriously. Yesterday, when the heir mentioned it, wasn’t he still laughing? Right now, you’re further along in your pregnancy, so it’s still more important to consider for the little young master for all things.”
Yu Lingxin forcibly calmed her breathing and drank the warm decoction that Gaocao brought over, no longer asking more. Right now, she was already in her seventh month of pregnancy. Although according to Little Imperial Physician Chi’s diagnosis, the child is very healthy, Yu Lingxin was nevertheless frequently not too well lately, her chest feeling stuffy, her entire person also becoming more irritable with each passing day. Even if taking the calming medicine that Little Imperial Physician Chi prescribed, she was still frequently unable to sleep well, her emotions fluctuating a lot more than before.
Towards this, Xun Che was actually more concerned. Just, after repeatedly asking Little Imperial Physician Chi and even Ming Huayue, he was told that overthinking during pregnancy truly was a common occurrence, especially given how the state of affairs in the capital currently was like so. Even if Yu Lingxin doesn’t say anything, and the inside of the Wen’an Marquis Manor also appears harmonious and peaceful, her heartstrings were ultimately still tense, her mind unable to relax too much. This was also something that can’t be helped.
Having no other way, Xun Che vaguely mentioned a little with Ming Jinrou. After all, among Yu Lingxin’s peers, the one with the brightest personality was none other than Ming Jinrou.
Ming Jinrou actually agreed quite swiftly, “At present, wangye has already left the capital. It just so happens that prior to Duanyang[1], I need to go to Jingfu Temple to offer incense for my mother. If cousin-in-law can still go out, then why not take the trip with me. Just staying at home and chatting, what fun can there be? It’s still better to go out and walk around, and look at the scenery outside in order to relax the mind.”
Towards this idea of Ming Jinrou’s, Xun Che was very stupefied, “This probably isn’t necessary……..she’s currently already in her seventh month of pregnancy. I was originally thinking if you two can meet and talk, it’d be enough. As for Jingfu Temple, it’s still better to not go.”
“What use is there just talking?” Ming Jinrou was unconcerned, “Second cousin, aren’t you a bit too cautious? Actually, based on second cousin-in-law’s temperament, what can she not understand? But, some things that one is emotionally concerned about or still hanging in the balance, unable to put down, it simply won’t just work out because someone else consoled a few words. It’s still better to go out for a walk. The tall skies and white clouds between the mountains and rivers makes one open up the most. Besides, older sister Cheng will also be accompanying us, what are you afraid of?”
Xun Che was somewhat speechless for once. And when Ming Jinrou’s idea passed back to the Wen’an Marquis Manor, the similarly straightforward Ming Huayue immediately agreed too. However, just to be sure, they also invited Little Imperial Physician Chi over again for a look. After confirming that Yu Lingxin’s body didn’t have any problems, just mainly needing to adjust her mood, they carefully started arranging the servants and carriage, also letting Xun Ying who was also in low spirits these days to go together with Yu Lingxin.
From the Wen’an Marquis Manor to Jingfu Temple, the distance wasn’t considered too far, but Yu Lingxin and Xun Ying’s conversation along the way was lesser than before. The little bookworm has currently grown a little taller, her exceedingly beautiful appearance increasingly displayed the graceful and gentle charm of a grown young lady, slightly different from her style before that was like a small flower. However, the thoughts of a grown young lady were also not the same as when she was a little girl. Especially considering, from the plum forest poetry gathering to now, they haven’t visited Jingfu Temple in five months. Xun Ying seemingly has become particularly quiet.
“Ying’er, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?” Yu Lingxin pondered for a moment. Although she had some guesses inside, she still voluntarily asked.
Xun Ying lightly shook her head, slightly falling silent for a moment, seemingly having the thoughts in her mind temporarily pressed down, and then gazed towards Yu Lingxin, “I’m fine. Older sister-in-law, what about you, is your body still well?”
Yu Lingxin pressed her own lower back, “Just a bit sore in the waist, the chest also feeling a bit stuffy, but it’ll probably get better after walking around.” She paused for a moment, somewhat impulsively wanting to ask again, but seeing Xun Ying’s gentle and clear eyes seemingly containing a bit of sorrow, the words by her mouth were increasingly unable to come out.
Even if Xun Ying admits to liking Qi Ke, what can come of it?
As Zhao Wang became bedridden, Wu Wang forcefully expressing his benevolence and filial piety, as well as Qin Wang mentioning the northwest affairs when his Majesty was wavering in between, the board for the current battle of the throne was already increasingly distinct. The so called courtesies and affections on the surface between the sons of the imperial family really were already as thin as cicada wings. And in this process, Qi Ke, this young talented scholar that was once extremely eye-catching in the capital, because of a so called heavy illness, didn’t participate in the spring exam, instead after recovering from his illness, became increasingly close with Wu Wang. His high frequency in going in and out of Wu Wang Manor and Wei Wang Manor was already like that of a trusted aide.
In fact, among the recent rumors fluttering about regarding Xun Che’s personal character, there were a few mockeries that were very eloquent. Although when getting passed around orally, no one knew who the author was, but based on the literary talent, there were still quite a few people that suspected Qi Ke.

Under this kind of circumstance, Qi Ke’s label as having adhered to Wu Wang and Wei Wang practically deepened more and more. As long as the overall state of affairs don’t turn around, then afraid, Qi Ke won’t have any opportunities to free himself.
Furthermore, even if in the future, Wu Wang and Wei Wang really perish, whether or not Qi Ke will get buried together with them was also unknown.
If like this, then whether or not Xun Ying admits her feelings, it actually doesn’t make any difference. In fact, not saying might be a bit better.
“Sister-in-law, later, be careful where you walk.” Xun Ying also made out that Yu Lingxin’s gaze was very complicated. Aside from concern, there was also a bit of faint sorrow and pity. But, she also didn’t dare to think too deeply. If she thinks too much, she won’t be able to bear it anymore. And the thoughts and person hidden deep in her heart, she further didn’t dare to rashly dig out. Forcing herself to endure, she smiled and changed the topic, “Oh right, sister-in-law, how many clothes have you made for my little nephew?”
Yu Lingxin slightly sighed inside. This kind of topic was never what Xun Ying liked, but now, she would actually voluntarily bring up to cover up the matters in her heart. From a certain angle, this child probably has grown up.
Yu Lingxin could only smile, “Made six, yet in the end, your older brother actually started coveting, insisting that I also make one for him later, saying that he can’t lose to this unborn little guy.”
“Older brother has always been unwilling to admit defeat.” Xun Ying also laughed. The conversation between this pair of sister-in-laws just this tacitly went in the direction of casual family matters.
Very soon, they arrived at the foot of Jingfu Temple. Qin Wang Manor’s carriage and attendants, and the Grand Elder Princess Manor’s carriage have both arrived. Ming Jinrou and Cheng Yanling were standing together, respectively dressed in light and casual clothes, happily chatting as they waited for Yu Lingxin and Xun Ying.
When people of the same generation meet, it was ultimately much more relaxing and intimate, especially now that the Qii family’s case has thoroughly concluded. Cheng Yanling’s appearance was also even more easy-going and cheerful than before. The four of them briefly laughed and chatted a few words, then headed inside Jingfu Temple together. And their respective manor’s attendants either respectively went to park the carriage, or followed after them into the temple to serve.
The weather in the early fifth month was already somewhat blistering hot. Everyone’s clothes were all very light and convenient. The plum blossoms behind Jingfu Temple naturally were already gone, but the hibiscus and hydrangeas were blooming splendidly, very magnificent. And because the ceremonial rituals and incense offerings among the folks were usually during the day of Duanyang, or in the two days after Duanyang, the visitors in the temple at this time weren’t that many. In addition to Qin Wang Manor’s and the Grand Elder Princess Manor’s guards arranging in advance, their walk was also very relaxing the whole way.
However, what they didn’t expect was that just as they strolled half a circle around to Jingfu Temple’s east garden to admire the hydrangeas, the commander of Qin Wang Manor’s guards unexpectedly came over in quick steps to report with a complicated expression, “Wangfei, xianzhu, the back mountain seemingly has a small scale poetry gathering. A day ago when this subordinate came over to confirm your trip today with Jingfu Temple, the people of Jingfu Temple didn’t mention this matter. This subordinate has already sent someone to go ask, should’ve came this morning on a whim, the people from the second prince manor.”
Yu Lingxin instantly just frowned, “Came on a whim? Who all is at this poetry gathering? Which academy’s scholars? Did the third prince come?”
Before she even finished asking, Cheng Yanling who had outstanding eyesight already noticed the figures several feet away, “The third prince most likely came.”
Ming Jinrou was never one that was scared of trouble, just raising her brow and smiling, “Actually this coincidental? That is really great. I thought that with the fourth prince still sick, the compassionate and filial second prince that has moved the heaven and earth, would be at home right now cleansing himself and drawing blood, cutting his flesh to make medicine, and such. He actually even has this kind of idle and elegant mood?”
Yu Lingxin glanced at Ming Jinrou, slightly furrowing her brow, “Currently, his Highness isn’t here. It’s better to be careful, don’t leave behind anything that can be used against you for others.”
Ming Jinrou smiled, gesturing at the group of people in brocade and jade that was approaching closer and closer, “This is only natural. I won’t say it in front of them.”
At this time, Yu Lingxin and Xun Ying also made out that it was Wu Wangfei, Qi Pei, and Wei Wangfei, Wen Ruoqiong, that came over. Behind the two of them, aside from the accompanying servant girls and attendants, there were also a few gorgeously dressed beautiful women. Presumably, they were the respective manors’ side consorts and liangyuans.
Since they’ve already met, they naturally needed to greet. According to the rank order, it was naturally with Ming Jinrou, this Qin Wangfei, as the lead. The womenfolk greeted one another, actually rather friendly.
Having not seen in several days, Qi Pei’s attire now was increasingly exquisite and refined, just her figure was still that thin, not seeing any meat, appearing a bit more graceful and pitiful, actually a bit similar to Wen Ruiqiong.
And when Qi Pei’s gaze swept over Ming Jinrou and Yu Lingxin’s respectively swollen abdomen, her expression was just even more complicated.

To be fair, Xun Che probably also has problems admitting that he actually likes Qi Ke, but in a different way lol. As for the other two princes, honestly, I feel like it’s kinda a good thing they aren’t actually working on anything important in government.
