Li Hong Yuan, Child of a Ghost (1)

Li Hong Yuan lightly hooked his lips, boundlessly elegant, yet also arrogant and imposing. Facing this kind of him, who would still dare say he’s just empty with a pretty face, lacking a single good point. This is adequately a model example of having both ‘beauty’ and capability, right?! “Sir Luo overpraises. ———-Sir Luo, have a seat. At present, Sir Luo might as well tell this prince what thoughts you have.”

Thoughts? Since Jin Qinwang didn’t hesitate to reveal himself before him, what thoughts can he still have? Could it be that he’ll still allow him to have another choice? On normal days, it was already very bad to offend him; this hidden side will only be even more terrifying. Luo Pei Shan believed, once he refuse him, according to this one’s usual style, his family will most likely repeatedly meet with mishap. Luo Pei Shan couldn’t help laughing, “Would wangye even give this old subject room to refuse?”

“Others, naturally no, but Sir Luo is different. Even if you reject this prince, this prince won’t do anything to you. In fact, you can even choose to pledge your loyalty to someone else, and in the future, when this prince seizes power, this prince still won’t do anything to the Luo family, at most just letting you retire early, that’s all.”

Luo Pei Shan’s heart slightly trembled, “Of what virtue and fortune is this old subject able to let wangye be this lenient towards the Luo family?”

“Naturally it’s not because of you, how to put it, the Luo family is still this prince’s future in-laws (wife’s clan), this prince can give anyone no face, but no matter what, still need to give one’s own wangfei face, no?” Li Hong Yuan nonchalantly spoke.

Luo Pei Shan instantly changed his expression, “What does wangye mean by this?”

“Your family’s third miss, this prince has long set one’s eyes on, Jin Wangfei, aside from her, there won’t be anyone else.”

Luo Pei Shan’s face blanked. He truly didn’t know what kind of expression to put on. Luo Pei Shan actually very much wanted to say, wangye, are you joking, or before coming to the Luo Manor, drank too much, that brain not working properly. “This old subject’s granddaughter has an engagement at hand.” Luo Pei Shan’s mind spun for a quite while, but could only squeezed out this one line.

“Engagement? If it can be cancelled once, then naturally it can be cancelled a second time. In any case, in the end, she will only be able to marry this prince.”

Luo Pei Shan tightly clenched his fist, forcibly suppressing his anger. “May this old subject dare ask, that matter before, did wangye interfere?”

“Chen Zheng Min and Li Ru Yu? It was just when Li Ru Yu schemed against Chen Zheng Min, secretly blocked Chen Zheng Min, not letting him leave, that’s all.” Li Hong Yuan was quite cooperating, and can be considered to be answering whatever he was asked. Even in front of his old man, he was never this ‘obedient’.

Luo Pei Shan wanted to curse. Never mind previously having a Sun Yi Lin eyeing her, how come his precious granddaughter was even able to get targeted by this living Enma? No matter who she marries, it would all be better than marrying this one, right?! “This old subject’s granddaughter possesses the disposition of a weeping willow[1], perhaps having a bit of cleverness, yet lack any great talent, afraid she’s still far unworthy of entering wangye’s eyes.”

Li Hong Yuan indifferently looked to Luo Pei Shan, “Sir Luo thinks that this prince is the same as a great majority of people, eyeing the favors and entanglements on her? To say it unpleasantly, those people, even if their future is limitless, right now, they are still just taking the first step. There’s even those few whose family clan behind them have long casted themselves under someone else, and at most, it’s just they themselves not standing on the opposing side of where Wan Wan stands, and if one were to encounter a white-eyed wolf, heh…………..” Li Hong Yuan coldly snorted, “Even if by marrying her, one really will be able to bring over the support of ten clans, this prince still doesn’t have much regard for them.”

“In that case, how did that girl enter wangye’s eyes?”

Li Hong Yuan fell silent, his gaze looking in an unknown place, momentarily lost in thought, “When this prince was young, this prince often had dreams. In those dreams was the grown up self with a woman that’s extremely important to this prince, surname Luo, personal name Jing Wan. At first, this prince didn’t really pay much attention to it, but this dream never once stopped. Once this prince turned sixteen, getting conferred into a wang and leaving the palace, this prince investigated Sir Luo family’s situation. And afterwards, when Wan Wan entered the capital, meeting her in person, this prince was a hundred percent certain, she was precisely the woman in one’s dreams. Someone who this prince has cared about for many many years, do you think, this prince will let her marry someone else?”

Luo Pei Shan felt it was very absurd, very ridiculous, but aside from this explanation, what other better explanation could there be? If Jin Qinwang had only met Jing Wan a few times, then was it worth him scheming like that from the start? “Wangye, forgive this old subject for being direct, but this subject’s granddaughter is one who can’t tolerate a single sand in her eyes, complicated places aren’t suitable for her.”

“This prince’s rear court, aside from some servant girls, there isn’t a single titled woman. After marrying this prince, there’s just Noble Consort Su that can somewhat be considered her legitimate mother-in-law, and how good Noble Consort Su is to her daughter-in-laws, presumably even court officials as yourself have all heard. Even if this prince has many brothers, there doesn’t exist the situation of sister-in-laws living under the same roof. And if those women dare to trouble her, this prince naturally will return the favor ten-folds on those brothers of mine. This prince rather doesn’t know, in the entire capital, where there’s a simpler rear court than Jin Qinwang Manor’s?” Li Hong Yuan patiently explained.

“Wangye should know, this old subject didn’t mean this.”

“Sir Luo can just directly say this prince has a frivolous reputation on the outside. This prince just cursed wives, not all women, if not for this frivolous reputation on the outside, would Jin Qinwang Manor’s rear court be this quiet? Sigh, this prince has long known Wan Wan is a little vinegar jar.”

Luo Pei Shan finally understood, but precisely because he understood, that shock couldn’t be concealed.

Li Hong Yuan seemingly felt that he hadn’t shocked Luo Pei Shan enough, looking to him, his expression faint, “In fact, this prince, to this day, has yet to hold a single woman, you think this prince has it easy?”

This time, Luo Pei Shan directly blanked out. Was he just hearing things, or just hearing things, or just hearing things?!

Where was the frivolous and fickle, going through countless women, Jin Qinwang? Suddenly turning into this ‘twenty-two years old, yet has never touched a woman before’ virgin, this pure and innocent?!

“This prince painstakingly schemed this much precisely because one wanted to have your precious granddaughter married back.”

Luo Pei Shan’s throat was like it was jammed, unable to say anything for a long time. Actually, he must have long fallen asleep and was just dreaming this whole time, right? But why was this dream this strange? Quickly wake up, this kind of thing, even if just dreaming, is still disgraceful!

“Does Sir Luo not want to say a bit of something? For this prince to be rambling on like this on one’s own, it is also quite boring.”

Luo Pei Shan ruthlessly pinched himself, ssh–, ouch!

“Sir Luo, you should’ve pinched lighter, this prince finds it painful from just looking at you.”

Heavens, it’s not a dream! “Wangye, this is, for the sake of this old subject’s granddaughter, keeping one’s body pure like jade?”

“Else what other reason could there be?”

“Wangye, even if you want to marry this old subject’s granddaughter, there seemingly isn’t the need to go this far. You are honored as a qinwang, his Majesty’s son, and deeply favored. In the entire Qi Yuan dynasty, as long as there’s a young lady that you are determined to marry, then there isn’t one that you’re unable to marry. Going this far, truly makes one difficult to fathom.”

“Didn’t this prince already say, one has long known that Wan Wan is a vinegar jar. This prince wants her, but further wants her heart. For her, if one is unable to be faithful to only her, then there’s no need to discuss feelings.”

Luo Pei Shan’s lips tremble, and moment later, “Wangye still has a soon-to-be side consort who is a national grace and heavenly beauty.”

“The seven soon-to-be wangfei in front were all taken care of, what does a soon-to-be side consort count as?” Li Hong Yuan very unconcernedly spoke.

[1] Meaning she has a weak constitution.

  1. Forgot to add. Once he started revealing his true colors, I knew he’d go for the Martin Luther King route (I had a dream). It’s a clichΓ© but wisely used and nothing like I met a hidden master/priest removed from worldly affair who taught me this, told me that. Smh

  2. My heart was so elated!!!! I was against all hopes wishing for him to share his secret obsession. But you know, MCs and Ml always have to be mysterious and never forthcoming. I’ve been conditioned to think this way and never hope for an important to reveal anything but a secret smile.

Haha, I wanted to see the shock on grandpa’s face. Even ML wanted to see it. Hahahahaha the pinch. LHY is so full of himself but so sincere, I hope he’ll be supported by grandpa. Especially, after admitting his purity and the reasons behind it. I don’t want just her, but her heart. So powerful. I swooned.

  3. Laying out all the cards for grandpa, respect. Respect.
My favorite non couple interaction so far for ML. I hope their future conversations are mutually respectful and candid as well.

Favorite: “Was he just hearing things, or just hearing things, or just hearing things?!”
Second favorite: “This prince has long known Wan Wan is a little vinegar jar.”
    πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

  4. Ah i totally love this chapterβ™₯β™₯ i didnt think LHY would straight out tell him the truth, but at the same time it makes sense that only by telling him the truth he can win him over. Lets hope Old Luo can be now a bitmore relaxed when it comes to confronting those other wangyes

Thanks a lot for the chapter 😘😘😘

  5. Lolololol can Li Hong Yuan be described as “pure and innocent virgin” though, Grandpa Luo?! Who knows how many wretched things he has on mind towards your precious granddaughter? He’s a skilled veteran from two lifetimes XD I’m laughing so hard.

I’m all above the clouds. Seeing Wangye come clean to Grandpa Luo, he regards him highly, trust him with choices. When he marry Wan Wan, the Luo Family wouldn’t be too worried of his motives. Afterall Wan Wan is filial and her family is supportive. Though obsessed, he respect her dear and deeply.

  6. Hahahahaha I like their interaction. I hope it’s a long chapter 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣
The way Wangye being “obedient” and yet Grandpa always turned speechless 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣
    =-=-=-
    Grammatical side note:
Who’s = who is or who has
    Whose = possessive form

    1. Are you referring to the ‘whose family clan’ part? That isn’t wrong tho?? It is suppose to be possessive, like ‘their family clan’; ‘who is/who has family clan’ wouldn’t make sense……

      1. Ahhh nonono. My bad. Sorry, sorry. It’s in the next chapter’s teaser but I remember it wrong, thought it was on this chapter. Gomen ne, Jen. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

        1. Ah fixed, I was looking at all the ‘who’ in this chapter and really confused where the typo was.

          1. Yeah I’m sorry for the confusion; that thought of the “who’s” came just as I was about to post the comment and I stupidly didn’t bother to check again and just inserted it in the comment πŸ˜“ *just woke up lol

    2. πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½Yup, I’m hoping for a long conversation between these two, as well. Grandpa Luo’s reactions and thoughts are so funny.πŸ˜‚

      Thanks for the update, Jen.πŸ’–

  7. Wow… this is the first time I’ve read an actual prince being this candid to anybody. Most of the time they keep these things to themselves. Well… Jin Qinwang has the ultimate cheatβ€”his knowledge of the β€œfuture”. 😏

Thanks for the chapter, Jen! 😁
