Grandmaster Liao Chen’s commentary naturally also spread out very quickly. Those that previously had bet on Jing Wan’s various deaths began to contemplate. Right now was there still time to take back one’s bet? After all, this clearly was just all kinds of signs for losing.

But, the things taken out, you still want to take back? Heheh, just keep daydreaming.

Everyone all believed that this was a marriage match made in heaven, but there was always that one that didn’t believe.

Ruan Fang Fei, whose life has always been a smooth sailing since birth, had effortlessly eliminated all the stones blocking her path, but ever since encountering Luo Jing Wan, seemingly just like encountering one’s bane, never mind everything having become unfavorable, she even injured her face. That’s right, she had her ‘accident’ also blamed on Jing Wan.

Ruan Fang Fei saw her own appearance in the mirror, her face distorted like a malicious spirit. She wasn’t Sun Yi Jia. She was the same as a majority of girls, caring about her face very much. In fact, she cared about her own face even more than many people. Even if she was told by her mother that her face won’t leave behind an obvious scar, but for Ruan Fang Fei who pursued perfection in all things, she naturally can’t tolerate the tiniest of blemish. Covering her face, Ruan Fang Fei sinisterly and sorrowfully smiled, “A match made in heaven? Whether or not it’s a match made in heaven, this miss has the final say.” And what Ruan Fang Fei hated even more, wasn’t the amount of selected gifts given to Jing Wan, but rather the fact that Li Hong Yuan personally got involved in this matter.

Ruan Fang Fei felt, her first time meeting Luo Jing Wan, she already strangely disliked her, seems this wasn’t without a reason.

“Lately, which family is having a banquet?” Ruan Fang Fei’s coldly asked.

Although it’s not that they’ve never seen this kind of Ruan Fang Fei before, but every time they saw, it always made them tremble in fear and trepidation. “Miss, on the seventeenth of the fifth month is Gong Wangfei’s birthday, and according to custom, will hold a feast.”

“Tell my mother, I want to attend.” Luo Jing Wan, as Jin Qinwang’s current fiancee, although is also waiting to be married, just the time is still premature, she has no reason to not attend her future sister-in-law’s birthday banquet.

“Yes.” The people serving by Ruan Fang Fei’s side have never had the power to make suggestions, and further didn’t have the right to comment. The things she decided, others only needed to obey.

Gong Wangfei’s birthday banquet was also only in a few days. The Luo family naturally received the invitation long in advance. In fact, Jing Wan even received her own separate invitation. Afterwards, Jing Wan also learned, Ruan Fang Fei will also be attending. Jing Wan more or less could guess her purpose. Then, if even Ruan Fang Fei wasn’t scared of going out and getting pointed at by others, would Jing Wan be scared of facing her?

That day, Jing Wan set out in splendid clothes, no less inferior to the clothes the Grand Elder Princess prepared for her on the day she recognized the Grand Elder Princess as her adoptive mother. Of the four first-rank servant girls, she took two, in addition to Bai Shao and Hei Mei, as well as Gong mama. This trip out as guests was probably the most grand yet. Even if she gets said as beginning to be the ‘fox that exploits the tiger’s might’ after becoming Jin Qinwang’s soon-to-be wangfei, it all didn’t matter.

Towards Jing Wan’s attire, Luo Old Madam was nevertheless very satisfied. ‘The boat rises with the tides’, it goes without saying this was just how it should be. If she were to stay the same as before, perhaps she would get said as being small-minded, even if this trait forever can’t be found on Jing Wan.

Riding the little sedan, she entered Gong Qinwang Manor’s second gate and encountered Gong Wangfei who personally came to welcome.

Although this wasn’t their first time meeting, it was however their first time interacting as future sister-in-laws.

As stated already, Li Hong Yuan’s actions pulled in grudges for Jing Wan, and the most naturally came from Li Hong Yuan’s brothers’ wangfeis. Gong Wangfei, because of her father’s reason, lived very unrestrained in the Gong Qinwang Manor. In fact, she has already married for many years, yet still carried a bit of haughtiness from before marrying. And on her face, one further wasn’t able to see the tiniest speck of sorrow.

Gong Wangfei wanted to give Jing Wan an initial display of strength, first wanting suppress Jing Wan with her imposing aura, but while her thoughts were good, when facing a brightly smiling Jing Wan, imposing aura and whatnot were all of no use. In fact, seeing the people that Jing Wan brought along, she even suspected whether or not Jing Wan was coming to show off her might to her.

Although Gong Wangfei didn’t achieve her goal, she didn’t do anything else excessive either. If she goes overboard, what she’ll be damaging will be her own face. Her gaze landed on Sun Yi Jia’s face, “Yi Jia has become increasingly beautiful, this look is truly pretty.”

Sun Yi Jia nodded, boldly accepting her praise. Whether it was real or not, who cares.

Gong Wangfei covered her lips, “Yi Jia’s temper is still like so, rather hasn’t changed at all.”

“Everything is all as one wishes at one’s husband’s family, so there’s nothing to change.” Sun Yi Jia faintly spoke.

“Indeed, heard that Luo third young master deeply loves one’s di wife, not giving a single glance to those flashy birds outside.”

The rumors outside saying she’s a rouge tiger, this matter, has already passed on to her ears. Sun Yi Jia nodded, “Your Highness is also not much different.” If one really were to speak of rouge tigers, the one at the number one spot really wasn’t her, Sun Yi Jia.

As expected, Gong Wangfei shut her mouth. She monopolized Gong Qinwang. Even if there were other legitimately titled women in the manor, she still won’t let them easily approach Gong Qinwang. Even if she has already given birth to the di son, after the other women would occasionally get ‘pampered’, they will still undoubtedly get forced down abortion medicine by the people she sent the next day. It’s rumored that there once was a pregnant concubine that got beaten to death alive by her.

Before they were welcomed into the courtyard, the people of the Ruan family arrived behind them.

Seeing Ruan Fang Fei with her face covered, quite a few people whispered———-oh my, she really injured her face?!

Speaking of which, as the two equally famous beauties of the capital, both having their beauty ruined, they should empathize one another, right? Unfortunately, these two people didn’t even interact with their gaze. Just, Ruan Fang Fei swept a glance at Sun Yi Jia. That peculiar yet exceptionally beautiful makeup made her eyes darken. Even if in the past, many people had them compared to one another, Ruan Fang Fei actually had never taken Sun Yi Jia seriously. However, after having a similar experience, never mind that the other party wasn’t at all affected, they were even becoming increasingly better, while she herself was instead like a broken clown. No matter how one thought about it, it was all very unpleasant.

Jing Wan shifted herself, blocking Ruan Fang Fei’s line of sight on Sun Yi Jia’s face, “Greetings Miss Ruan.”

“Greetings Miss Luo.”

Clearly a very peaceful scene, yet it made people feel there were sparks flying in all directions. It really was strange.

Gong Wangfei didn’t know what was going on, her heart uncontrollably speeding up. This feeling today seemingly wasn’t right.

The two families were led to the back flower garden. It was currently the season of flourishing blossoms vibrantly blooming. Regardless of which family’s courtyard, there was all a scenery to be seen.

When the sounds coming from the flower garden could be faintly heard, their party instead ran into someone else.

“This one greets Gong Qinwang, Jin Qinwang.”

Gong Qinwang called for them to rise. Afterwards, everyone just watched Li Hong Yuan directly walk before Ruan Fang Fei. This was wanting to do something? The others all subconsciously looked towards Jing Wan. Previously, there were even rumors of how much Jin Qinwang cared about Luo third miss, but now, it seems there will be entertainment to be seen.

Ruan Fang Fei’s eyes were filled with ripples, slightly raising her head to look towards Li Hong Yuan.

Jing Wan glanced at her. As expected, this pervert really liked Jin Qinwang.

Li Hong Yuan suddenly reached out to remove Ruan Fang Fei’s veil, and the deep love in Ruan Fang Fei’s eyes quickly declined. She subconsciously extended her hand, wanting to cover her face, but Li Hong Yuan’s other hand reached out, having her hand blocked aside, “This prince heard you ruined your appearance, so wanted to personally have a look, and sure enough, it really was true. Having become disfigured, did this brain also break too? If it’s not working properly, then just learn from others. Next time when going out, remember to cover up. Being this ugly, it won’t be good if you frighten others.” He casually had the veil thrown onto her face, then turned and left.

  1. The two with similar sad face that can relate together are only Mon boy and SYL lolol

ML… I never know if it’s too little or too much in Ruan girl’s case

  2. I’ve never like girls like RFF. Always be addicted to acting like a white lotus or some sort. But in reality they’re ugly hearted and disgusting. And they always feel entitled to everything and put the blame on other for things they’ve done….

  3. My modern woman side was like, “no way Li! Hong! Yuan! how could you do and say that to a gi-…” — and then I thought, “oh if at that time surveillance cameras were already existed, she would’ve been thrown to jail in an isolated cell ah; her CV consisted of her list of crimes ah; she’s the cause of you having goosebumps reading this novel ah…”
    Served. Her. Right. Hmph.

    Itsumo arigatou, Jen! 😘
Have a nice weekend, everyone! 🤗

    1. Lol let’s not forget that she came here deliberately to cause trouble for Jing Wan, so LHY was probably saying that on purpose to make her leave.

      1. *nods nods like pounding garlic? Like chicken pecking rice or corn or whatever yummy?
Li Hong Yuan’s wife protection mode: ON
        😂😂😂

  4. I’m always a bit conflicted everytime I read about RFF. She might have turned out normal had she grown up in a normal household. Ultimately she reap out what she sows, but had she grown under someone like Grandma Luo, she might not have been so twisted…

    1. But I mean, you can say that for about all the serial killers and psychopaths out there in the world

      1. I mean she couldn’t chose her birth, right? Are psychopath created or born? Or maybe a bit of both? Sigh that’s why i love this novel so much, the character are so well fleshed out.
Even the annoying Li Ru Yu, Luo Jing Ying and slag Li Hong Ming – to a certain extent I can totally get how they turn out this way. One is spoiled beyond belief, one is equally narcissistic/delusional and have low self-esteem and another one who is emotionally crippled and live with a permanent mask because that’s how he survived.

They were just unlucky that they didn’t met the right person/influence that will develop their character in a good way.

Anyhoo~ I’m so glad you picked up this novel Jen :3

        1. Well nobody is able to choose one’s birth 😂😂😂 If I could I wanna be born rich lol

Ruan Fang Fei is probably my favorite cnovel villain by just how she’s written to be, though what’s revealed so far barely scratches the surface of her true nature. It’s surprisingly hard to find well written villains in this genre of cnovel. In a way, it really is just because of her mother having so much power in the dark and spoiling her that she turned out this way. Imagine having free assassins at your disposal to kill anyone you hated.

But at the same time, I feel like she has also consciously gone further down that dark path on her own. Like she didn’t have to personally strangle someone to death with her own hands but she did. To say they were just unlucky in not meeting the right person, really does kinda take away the agency or responsibility of the bad things they’ve done to others. Also, like with LJY, it’s very difficult to influence or get through to people like them, because they will just refuse to listen. Ancient society in a way does enable a lot of bad things. Though I have to say, you have the most optimistic view of bad characters lol. I do love this novel for its characterizations.

  5. Oh dear… psycho’s going to be hard at work. Good thing Jing Wan has the Living Enma by her side. 😅
