Wow, isnt that a plot twist and a half. Pei Xiu Ying turning out to be a disposable puppet to shield the other girls he wants shoved in. Now i feel a tiny bit of pity for her because as a hen who cant lay eggs, no-one would want her as a wife. At most have as a concubine to play with risk free.
I can’t tell from just the teaser alone but does this old master Pei intend to install his people by Li Hong Yuan’s side as concubines, but also want to try to ensure he doesn’t have heirs? Because Xiu Ying seems surprised as well. Ultimately, does he intend to have Li Hong Yuan be the emperor for awhile but eventually be replaced by a person of Pei clan’s choice?

Seems PXY really didn’t know about the effects, because she’s already said she’d already taken the medicine. Seems the plan was to send her in to compete with Jing Wan and control the rear yard, while the other Pei clan daughters who would be sent in as well would be the ones who had children. And once it was discovered Jing Wan had been made barren through poison, PXY would be made into the scapegoat (hiding the fact it was the anti-aging pill), and whichever of the Pei clan women who had born a son first would be elevated to the primary wife.
The whole time PXY thought she was the apple of her great-grandfather’s eye, but to him she’s just another disposable woman to be used as he likes and then thrown away. He really is trash.
I just read the rest of the chapter now and PXY was also just a pawn in the end. I’m glad I didn’t misread her surprise in the teaser. Wow, what a great-grandfather. He doesn’t care for a single person in his family, they’re all just disposable pawn pieces.

Nah I don’t think he thinks LHY is dumb. I think he thinks he’s so smart. Why shouldn’t his plan work? Also he thinks all mhen are the same as him and should have the same beliefs as he does. The idea that a powerful man might actually love his wife is preposterous to him.
It’s a very interesting thought for a man to be having about his own gender.
