To Want A Great Commotion

“You all finally came, making me wait this long, but it’s also a good time, right now, I just happened to be quite bored.” Luo Jing Ying didn’t have the anger like when seeing them in the past, even waving her hand at them in a rather good mood.

This was just even more strange. This was losing one’s mind and going insane after losing one’s child? But, this completely wasn’t like what losing one’s mind should look like. For a moment, no one opened their mouth first.

Luo Jing Ying coldly sneered. She still remembers, after learning she was pregnant, what look these people had, and remembers after learning that she was pregnant yet lost favor, what kind of expression they had. And right now, they further wanted to throw stones at her. Previously because she still had her child, she carefully shielded, so even if she was arrogant and haughty, it was mostly still showing strength while weak inside, staying far away from them as much as possible. But now, she didn’t care about anything anymore. If others make her unhappy, then everyone will just be unhappy together.

However, right now, her body wasn’t good, temporarily unable to do anything. Once her body recovers………..

Sure enough, even if they momentarily didn’t open their mouth, as time passed, they still weren’t able to hold back the sarcastic remarks and mockery.

Prior to losing her child, Luo Jing Ying perhaps would still be easily angered by them, but now, she discovered, she actually didn’t feel anything at all. As a result, she even nonchalantly listened to them curse without using dirty words. Afterwards, when they seemingly finally discovered that something was off, she slowly opened her mouth, “Not going to say anymore? Then it’s my turn. I indeed have no favor, the child also gone, and the Luo family completely doesn’t care about me, these are all correct. Know why the Luo family doesn’t care about me? Because I was blind, not knowing what’s good for myself, stubbornly clinging to a lone path. Wangye wholeheartedly wants to rope in my grandfather, just unfortunately, grandfather simply never had the intention of casting himself under him, so wangye turned his ideas towards me, yet didn’t fully understand the situation clearly. In my grandfather’s heart, I don’t have any place at all. He probably further fancies Luo Jing Wan. Although Luo Jing Wan is hateful, she’s very accurate at judging people. Our wangye has probably never approached within ten feet of that third older sister of mine before.” As she spoke, she just began laughing, “Wangye has schemed in every possible way to cling onto the Luo family, and I’m precisely that thread that’s equivalent to nothing. However, if I die, this thread will just be thoroughly cut. Perhaps, grandfather can even use this opportunity to be at odds with wangye. Oh, thinking of it like this, I actually still have a bit of use.” Carrying a smile, her eyes even glistened somewhat. “What kind of person is wangye, we all should be clear. If you all make him thoroughly lose his opportunity with the Head Minister of Appointments, don’t know what it will be like? Really makes one look forward to.”

The few women were alarmed. Luo Jing Ying was using death to threaten them, and wangye’s true nature, they indeed knew. They originally thought that it was better if she died, but if what she says is true, then she can’t die. That kind of feeling, like as if having a fish bone stuck in the throat, really was terrible.

“This is the qinwang manor, would a person dying even get leaked out? It’s not like the Luo family cares about you, so even if you become dust, the Luo family still won’t know.” Towards Luo Jing Ying’s argument, one of the women expressed disdain.

“Is that so, then let’s just try, and see whether or not my mother will suddenly remember me.”

Several people were left speechless, their throats congealing. A mother really wasn’t able to forget their own child that easily. For her to have not shown any concerns so far, it was probably having gotten suppressed by the mother-in-law. But who can guarantee that there won’t be a day when things loosen up. Never mind the ones among them that didn’t have a maiden family, even if they have a maiden family, they definitely still can’t contend against the Head Minister of Appointments.

Seeing them swiftly leave, Luo Jing Ying laughed out loud, laughing very carefreely, yet in their ears, it was very piercing. “Could it be that she really dares to commit suicide?”

“Once you lose everything, you will know whether she dares or not. However, if it’s you, dying would be just that, won’t even get a single spray of flower.”

Luo Jing Ying laughed and laughed, yet laughed until tears fell, her voice coming to a stop, “All of you get lost.”

Luo Jing Ying right now, her entire person was all chillingly sinister. The people serving her also wished they could stay far away, thus swiftly got lost.

When it was just her remaining, Luo Jing Ying curled up her body and silently cried. Towards her days at the Luo Manor, she endlessly missed. Even if repeatedly getting violently angered by Luo Jing Wan to the point of exploding, right now, it all felt wonderful recalling. Towards her, she still envied, and still hated, yet still honestly missed. At that time, when she(JW) learned that she(LJY) was about to enter Rui Qinwang Manor, seeing that lofty and arrogant look of hers, she(JW) was probably mocking her(LJY) in her(JW) heart, right? No, that’s not right, she has always looked down on her, never having her taken seriously. Perhaps it was just like looking at a joke.

A few months, it was only just a few months. Recalling herself at the time, thinking of becoming the most honorable woman in the world, letting everyone crawl under her feet, and letting those that looked down on her plea in remorse, it really was too naive, too laughable.

When she first lost favor, she even thought of wanting to win back, but now, she didn’t even feel like seeing that man anymore. Without experiencing, one will never know exactly how cruel reality was.

If able to give her another chance, she would rather avoid Luo Jing Wan and find a well-matched family to marry into.

This was a realization that she didn’t even have the moment prior to losing her child. Otherwise, after hearing about Jing Wan’s grand coming-of-age ceremony, it wouldn’t have just caused her to have a miscarriage. Of course, this matter was just the trigger. In the end, it was still because she’d bled on more than one occasion, destabilizing the fetus, and no matter how firm of a fetus, it still wasn’t able to withstand such repeated torment.

However, from hereon out, in the Rui Qinwang Manor rear court, Luo Jing Ying just revealed her formidable fighting power. Whenever she learned that someone was scheming against her in the dark, since she doesn’t know how to play in the dark, she just brought it onto the surface, suddenly charging into your room thoroughly smashing everything, else it was just taking a hairpin, appearing weak and fragile, and when you’re off guard, just sliced towards your face, and if not, it was just suddenly running out, ramming with all her strength, having you bumped into the waters. All kinds of incidences like these, even if stopped again and again, and the same thing also won’t happen a second time, but Li Hong Ming also knew that she absolutely can’t die. If they were to have her locked up, she will immediately just use all kinds of methods to attempt suicide, becoming more ruthless each time. Li Hong Ming’s face darkened several times, and just gave up, throwing it all to Rui Wangfei to take care of.

At Rui Wangfei’s place, Luo Jing Ying was actually rather perceptive, and towards Rui Wangfei, she just said to help her have Li Hong Ming kept in the main courtyard, and not let the other women get involved. Even if Rui Wangfei no longer has any feelings towards Rui Qinwang, this was still quite enticing. Thus she tacitly agreed.

Luo Jing Ying no longer stirred up a storm on normal days, but whenever she finds out that Rui Qinwang had spent the night at a certain concubine’s place, that concubine will certainly get troubled. With Rui Wangfei secretly helping in the dark, those concubines all got messed with very miserably.

And when Li Hong Ming found out, it was because Luo Jing Ying loved him too deeply, so him going to the others’ places, she will just go crazy from jealousy, and only the wangfei she was truly unable to touch, thus would give up. Men, in this aspect, would always have that bit of vanity. Since there weren’t any women in the rear court he cared about, in addition to things being particularly unsmooth outside for him, with careless mistakes appearing everywhere, already having gotten reprimanded by Le Cheng Emperor more than once, getting burned badly in the head, he also just took a laissez-faire attitude, and really didn’t enter a concubine’s room for several months.

And Luo Jing Ying, because of her miscarriage, and no one giving her proper maintenance, lingering ailments remained, taking root. If she were to just remain calm and at ease, perhaps it would just affect child bearing, but she never settled down for a moment, her body getting ruined day by day. However, she didn’t care either………….

Of course, these were all later stories.

A few days after Jing Wan’s coming-of-age ceremony was the double ninth festival[1], so the tradition of climbing a mountain can’t be missing.

Li Hong Yuan further unrestrainedly visited the Luo Manor directly that day to pick up the person.

Just a few days ago, Luo Old Madam had already gotten ‘angered’ by him once, so she just impatiently let the person go.

Jing Wan got taken to an ‘uninhabited’ place by him and got ruthlessly ‘bullied’ again. Afterwards, in high spirits, he took Jing Wan to join the crowd climbing the mountains, and they actually played around quite carefreely.

The next day, Jing Wan received two news front to back. The first one was that Chen Zheng Min and Li Ru Yu will be marrying in ten days, and second one was Sun Yi Lin getting appointed to a post outside of the capital.

Regardless of which news, they all came rather suddenly. Although Chen Zheng Min and Li Ru Yu’s marriage was something that will happen sooner or later, but previously there was no movements at all. The three documents and six rites, the procedures in front, not a single one had been heard of, so directly getting married in ten days’ time, with no news on the betrothal gift either, didn’t that just make one surprised.

And also Sun Yi Lin. He’d been perfectly fine as the inner court scribe, and even if because of the contributions from the trip to the west, needing a promotion, there still seemingly weren’t any need to leave the capital to an outer post. Moreover, right now, the Ding Duke Manor was in the middle of an internal struggle. How many people all turned to rely on him, yet now, clapping his hands and just leaving like this, what will those people do?

Jing Wan furrowed her brows, seemingly puzzled, yet seemingly also understanding.

[1] Double Ninth Festival – Takes place on the ninth of the ninth lunar month, hence the name, also known as the Yang Festival. Since there’s a wiki page for it, just go read about it there, I’m too lazy to explain.

T/N: Luo Jing Ying’s story arc is actually a lot like the first life of those rebirth revenge novel MCs.

  1. I was just going to say I wanna ready a LJY rebirth story. I like her with spunk. In a sense, she’s free after she realizes that Rui Qinwang isn’t all that great and he really only cares about her connection to her grandfather, which gives her some power. She’s almost like a female LHY – she can do what she wants and there’s nothing Rui Qinwang can do. Hahah.

  2. I am sorry if I offended you Jen. I really like the novel and I do understand that people can have flaws . It’s just the difference in the treatment of Luo Jing Ying and Jing Wan made me a bit upset. Jing Ying was clearly a brat but she did not deserved the way she was plunged into a situation of no escape. I do have a issue with the way how she was treated by her family and practically discarded altogether but even before she made the major mistake no one actually tried to guide her to the right path while Jing Wan the perfect one has already had the experience and maturity of 2 lifetimes .It was unfair how a immature 14 year old girl is pitted against a 30+ year old mature and sensible woman. Once again I apologise for my stupid rant but the blatant favouritism in Luo family was just too much to handle for me.

    1. I’m not offend, I just feel you are overlooking a lot of obvious things. The problem with Luo Jing Ying isn’t that simple as ‘no one helped her’, she is also responsible for her own actions and decisions. You pity Luo Jing Ying, but look at how she treated her shu sister and the other children in the family, nobody likes someone that is constantly a bully and condescending to them, so it’s only natural they would not like her. If someone is constantly abusing you, are you going to be willing to help them? Yes she wasn’t raised right, but that doesn’t excuse her from bullying or practically abusing her shu sister. Otherwise every abuser out there can be defended with, ‘well they weren’t raised right’. I mean you can even apply that argument to Rui Qinwang and say he’s only doing what he’s doing because he was raised that way. And this is just talking about her shu sister, it’s also been stated that the servant girls by her side are constantly changed, so she probably abuses her servant girls too, but again things that can be easily overlooked. Regardless of age, there’s still going to be consequences from one’s actions, that’s just reality.

Both her mother and grandmother Luo have warned her before she went to Rui Qinwang Manor, if she’d listen to them, perhaps she wouldn’t have ended up this way. Even Jing Wan pointed out the reality to her before she left. It’s not like she didn’t have other options. If she didn’t want to go to Rui Qinwang Manor, even if she was pregnant, the Luo family would’ve been more than happy to not let her go, because that’s one less entanglement with Rui Qinwang. She is young, but she’s already at the age where she can form her own opinions and thoughts, and it’s not easy to change the mind of someone who’s already sold on their own views. That’s why there’s the saying that people sometimes can’t change easily unless something impactful happens in their life. In this situation, what else can they do other than lock her up, ancient society isn’t that forgiving. And even if they nicely explain to her, would she have listened? If they stop her, what if she tries to escape on her own or do other things that might endanger the entire family?

To the readers we can see how Jing Wan is an actual adult, but to the people in the novel, Jing Wan is the same age as LJY. There is favoritism in the family, but how come the 20 other grandchildren in the Luo family aren’t treated like LJY, or even act like her? This isn’t just the problem with favoritism, her actions have consequences that may harm the entire family. Even with favoritism, grandpa luo has stated that if Jing Wan ends up in a situation that will put the Luo family in danger, he will ABANDON Jing Wan too. Just like in LHY’s first life, Jing Wan was abandoned and expelled from the Luo family, and also ended up dying tragically. For someone who is the head of the family, the lives of the thousand of people in the Luo family is greater than the life of just one. In these political entanglements there are too much at stake. It’s not the matter of whether she deserved it or not, this is just the consequences of her decisions. If a child burned their finger from touching a stove, did they deserve it? Not really, but that’s just the aftermath of their action. Sure you can tell a child, to not touch the stove and explain how it will hurt them, but there will still be children that will do it anyways behind their parents backs. Also her arc isn’t over yet.

  3. I wasn’t twisting anything and I have followed the entire story from the beginning till the end and no I wasn’t bashing Jing Wan’s character ,I was pointing out some loopholes that are obvious but no one bothers about them because well the main characters are not effected. She sacrificed and took care of her grandmother ,I agree to that point , that was very noble in the very ‘ TYPICAL FEMALE LEAD ‘ kind of way 😒. I am talking about her bland character that is based on LHY and other’s actions and also her sense of out of thin air entitlement. The way she treats her parents and the way she gets everything that is good in this novel and the extra affection and attention she gets from Luo family without actually being anything special. Before I offend anyone , do remember that opinions are subjective , every person is different so their way of thinking can be different. We are reading a novel and can encounter things that we may not agree on. It’s not worth getting offended. It is a healthy thing to discuss and accept that people view things differently and others can have a different opinion.

    1. …………..thin air entitlement lmaooooo more like you don’t like a flawed mc who’s very human with bias, something all humans have. She gets attention from the rest of the Luo family because her actions benefit them and she hasn’t done anything to harm them. Why would they dislike her for no reason, it’s so counterproductive? The way she treats her parents is based on her own deep rooted problems she carried over from her previous life, even she admits to her problems, nobody is overlooking her flaws. No human is perfect, and people shouldn’t expect humans to be perfect. As Jing Wan often states, ‘She’s not a saint.’ And if the only basis of getting liked is ‘being special’, then that’s really sad. All the good she gets are all results of her own actions, including the things from LHY, the only reason he does so much for her is because she’d saved him in his past life. People like her because she’s overall a decent person and doesn’t go out of her way to harm others. And as a modern person in ancient times, her views will make her stand out like a sore thumb, so in a way she is SPECIAL in that sense to the society she’s in.

  4. I wish she gets reincarnated and is able to find her true happiness in next life . As much irritating she was she really didn’t deserve this sad fate. Aside from Jing Wan ,the Luo family neglects everyone else. There is blatant favouritism and anyone will feel bad in her place also she didn’t have caring parents ,her father was useless and mother only used her for her own ambitions. I don’t really understand why Jing Wan gets so much attention she is so bland and there is nothing really special about her but everyone magically falls for her . Only thing I know about her is her bottom line . No one should touch her bottom line. I find it hard to see why anyone would have even bothered about her if she wasn’t the main character. Luo Jing Ying ,even though came off as bratty was frankly more honest , vivid and lively. Jing Wan looks dead to me . Her entire character depends on LHY , her love for flowers and yes her being an absolute favourite without any goddamn reason.

    1. She the favorite because she cared for grandmother a lot and thought of ways to benefit her family, even if it meant sacrificing herself, it’s not that hard to understand. For how much you’re twisting it in the last part, really makes me question if we’re reading the same novel. I had no idea LJY being abusive to her shu sister, abusive to her servant girls, and bullying the other younger sisters can get described as being lively and vivid.

      1. Sometime people skip everything and twist it their desire.

(Like in one novel I read someone trash talk a good male characters because they twist his action of brining dowaries and saving the love interest father from dying to rpe, and keep saying that he should di) so yeah.

      2. it is somehow interesting that everyone can read the exact same thing but received it differently. I get that ‘people have their own point of view’ but most of books have basic standard of logic.

We were trained in school on this. You know, like those questions during English class which asked ‘what is the main idea of the passage’?

Sometimes things are simple. When people told you that your view have twisted too much, then don’t be so stubborn on it. Review again.

JW is an amazing character. She was perceptive on many things and very wise. Don’t just slander a character with good developmet based on your narrow understanding. Don’t ruin what we enjoy and appreciate. It’s just simply your bias.

        1. And fyi, you haven’t even read further to know what will be LJY’s fate at this point, how she will ended up. Why so… judgy? Just read first

    2. Oh I agree with you on this. LHY’s quite pitiful and there is blatant favoritism in her family. If one is constantly compared to a cousin, who wouldn’t be resentful? She also comes from a poorer family and is constantly compared.

Some of her actions are a bit…dumb. Like why fight LJW if she despises you – just stay away from her (but I guess that comes with maturity). Because LJW actually retained her previous life memories, so of course she’s more mature. I think people just like how cool and collected and mature she is… and she has that protagonist halo, which makes her talented in many areas – like painting, making weapons, flowers.

      1. ………It’s a bit of a stretch to say Jing Wan has protagonist halo with her talents, they aren’t even that uncommon skills. Even I have more areas I’m skilled in than her, and she didn’t invent a new weapon she just modified a pre-existing one. It’s really not that hard to design simple weapons. Literally half the characters in the novel have more talents than her.

  5. I’m glad she finally opened her eyes and got her braincells back. Pretty impressed that she is able to hold on instead if the typical weeping in the room scenario.

  6. The typical transmigrator back story. I kind of feel sorry for her. She’s arrogant and stupid, but she’s an honest character.

  7. I am actually impressed with LJY. That’s a pretty smart way to go about it and shows that Li Hong Ming isnt as smart as he thinks he is, being played by LJY and his wangfei.

  8. Finally lost that pitch-black glasses, huh…
Thank you for the translation, Jen-san!
